Rockies. Canyons. Desert This Week

Hi all. Very loose plans -- a rough outline. Let me know if there are any events going on or if anyone is in the area to ride some twisting roads. Camping and a few hotel nights.
Looking SOMETHING like:
Fri night free camp in St Francis KS
Sat camp in Monarch Park CO
Sun camp around Bryce or Zion UT (riding the right roads)
Mon stay and play in the Canyons (riding the right roads)
Tue Vegas Baby - probably just Pahrump (hotel and AC)
Wed early AM DV before too hot - yeah right
Thur Night Ely hotel or G Basin camp
Fri back in Co - maybe Craig
Sat WY - Play around Medicine Bow all day / hot springs Saratoga
Sun hall ass to BF NE or IA
Mon Haul ass to the sweet fields of IL

Unless you are in the mountains it will be very hot. Good luck.

Hell yes! There are certainly alternates planed - and altitude if I can't take it. If this route holds, forecasts for the ride from St George UT to Pahrump will hit triple digits, bleh. Death valley has been "cool" in the wee hours - so just a fly by. Going to have to spend more time there in a few years when I can travel in a month other than July - probably do it on a different kind of bike too. Then all day to Ely and great basin will be 90's.
Have a few bail out options through out...

As I posted here to another thread a couple of weeks ago, I've camped many times at Duck Creek campground on Hwy 14 off the 89. Goes forty miles from Hwy 89 to 15 freeway and Cedar City. You'll be taking Hwy 12 through Bryce to 89 and down to Zion. Duck creek is 7,500 ft so it is nice at night. And just beautiful country. Great road too.

Perfect info! I was planning on camping an hour before there. Depending on how the day goes and how much altitude (ie. cooler temps night) my body needs, this is a great option to know about. Thanks - putting this in my notes. I would then back track to 89 in the AM because looking at 9 through Zion.

Duck Creek is about twelve miles off 89. And it looks like 8,000 ft. Good sleeping. You'll pass a small store and restaurant across from a hotel as you go an additional couple of miles to Duck Creek campground. Be careful if you anywhere in the area after 6:00p. Deer everywhere.

Thanks blue. Didn't make it as far as duck creek, but took your advice and went past single tree. Wound up at calf creek by the petroglyphs and the creek. It was cool enough at that altitude. And you were right about plenty of better options. Thanks for the heads up!
