Yes, looks very cool but not likely to ever be produced. The time for E Bikes is coming, but it's just not quite here yet. Maybe in a generation or two they'll figure a way around the limitations of the current battery tech.

They said similar disparaging remarks about digital cameras.

So tired of seeing "fan-fic" concepts that 1) will never be built, and 2) aren't even built in concept by the companies being showcased.

What's disparaging about what I said? I do believe the time for E Bikes will come - it's just not here yet. Batteries are too big and can't store enough energy yet. Yet.

I hate designers who make concepts that have zero practical use. Get back to me when you can produce a concept that actually looks like it might be functional in the real world. This extends beyond this Tesla motorcycle concept.

One word. Speed bumps. Oh wait.... thats two words.
I for one will one day welcome our Lithium Ion overlords.
One day ...
There is a guy on ADV doing a Canada, US, Mexico tour on an electric bike. He has added some fast charging gizmos to it so it only takes 1.5 hours to full charge. Pretty interesting and rather functional compared to this "bike".
IF the price was lower, I would consider an electric as a commuter in summer.

In short: This isn't a Tesla-made concept, so it's useless, pointless and not worth discussing as it'll never be made.

Most people who bash fanfiction are not willing to look past the fact that it's based on something else to see that it could be worth reading IF you like the subject. If they don't like the subject, then obviously they are going to automatically dismiss the fanfiction.
I suppose you coud've simply ignored the thread if it's so useless, worthless and not worth discussing...

To be fair, the tech for working digital cameras (and DVRs) existed LONG before it was every COMMERCIALLY viable for mass production.
We still don't have electric cars dominating the market, so I'd expect less of electric motorcycles.

Ultimately, the real problem with batteries is not capacity, but the ability to put back the KW you took out in a reasonable time.....If you made a 300KW/hr battery battery that was one ounce in weight, and an inch square, and could be recharged in a minute, to put 300KW/hr into the battery in a minute would require huge wires and large feed wires. To keep amps low, even at 4160V, you would need over 450 Amps service. No way around it..... Big wires, high voltage - really dangerous to deal with.
The battery technology will improve, but physics limits the electrical distribution end of the problem.
So recharging will be limited by electrical service.
Unless you don't mind pulling on to a "gas" station and spending some serious time there.

That monstrosity looks like it was designed by folks that have not once ridden a motorcycle on the road.
Are electric bikes practically affordable today? Nope. The economies of scale are worse than for cars. Do technology exist to make one perform just as well as - if not superior to - IC bikes? Absolutely!
Check out John McGuinness breaking the TT Zero lap record:

Now those are proper electric bikes.

I could put "Bimota" on my Vstar, and even copy their logo.
Just as dumb, and just as NON-effective.
But at least I could RIDE my Vstar, er Bimota...
