After a bit of a break from the ST scene, I found a 2011 with 13k on it at a dealership. My original plan was not to buy a replacement for the VStrom but my wife said she wouldn't mind an occasional ride. Cheap enough at $5200 with the luggage incl., so why not. I like the undervalued and under-appreciated bikes and this one hits it out of the park.
Here she be...
Mods?
Windscreen - I took a chance and ordered a Puig touring windscreen even though I'm fairly happy with the stock one. It seems like windscreen upgrades are always hit or miss and I get clean air with the stock. Most of the windscreen wisdom I could find on the internet came from people that wanted very little wind on them and I'm not sure I want to go that route.
The handlebar angle is terrible. Need to fix that. Maybe some bar backs too.
The seat - The wife is not happy. I knew the seat was a big complaint from the beginning so that's ok. I like the Holeshot/Corbin but I don't like the idea of having grind off parts of a new seat to fix the problem caused by the Suzuki rack. Again, I cant seem to find any info from people who have done it or pictures of the result. Not sure if a Sargent seat has the same issues either.
Buy a GIVI topbox that I can mount a bit farther.

Looking at your picture and the passenger seat, why don't you take off the passenger seat and take it to a local upholstery shop and have them add padding and make it level? Might make the wifey happy for chump change?!
Only because I am a power junkie, for well under one large you can make that a real monster. Happy riding on your "new" bike.

That's not a bad idea. I've done a few dual sport seats in my day and there isn't anything too complicated about that two piece seat.

They brought the 1250S back and brought the naked GSX-S750 to the States. Maybe they'll surprise you yet (don't hold your breath

The stock seat is the only thing that I didn't like about mine. Replaced it with a Sargent.

I can get buy with less seat but the wife is much more difficult to please. A Sargent seat is on my short list and I'm hoping that's as far as I need to go to make her happy.

Wow, lovely bike!
Love Bandit's, had five of them in my life, from 600's to one GSX1250FA just like yours.
And please, don't say the GSX isnt a Bandit, because they are.
Congrats for your bike.

I am certain you will have a hoot with that bike. I have had mine since Dec 2010. I have logged just shy of 70K km on it since, and have really enjoyed riding it. Fun bike.
