I took the GT for another test sitting on the showroom floor. The bars are higher than my initial impression, leg room was nice. Tank is wide but not obnoxious. The SDR1290 feels like a bicycle comparatively with its less weight and size.

Apparently, there's one on the local dealership floor here. Now if only I was here and functional long enough to to take a look.
Any idea on the size of the bags? This would be a replacement for the MTS

30 liters, but they hold a full faced helmet. That's impressive.

I've ridden the Super Duke 1290 and I can tell you it is deceptively powerful. Power doesn't come on aggressively like, say, a Tuono or old Brutale, but it's there. Smooth, powerful delivery that surprises you when you look down and see you're going over 100mph when you just casually shifted into 4th...
The GT may be like that - or maybe you need to be in Sport mode? Regardless, the power is there, it's just smooth without any real racket or crazy fast spin up of the RPMs.
Regardless, really like the bike. Wonder how wind management is on a 300+ mile highway ride... Love my Tuono, but I don't take it for highway blasts anymore. Maybe the windshield on the Duke GT does the trick?

I found the windshield does a respectable job, probably not so much in the rain.
I'm not so sure how the dirt bike riding position would cope with long stints of open highway but then, I never was a fan of the sit-up-and-beg riding position so I'm probably not impartial.
The dealer told me that the bags won't hold a helmet but, he might be misinformed.
I agree that the power delivery may be deceptive due to its smoothness. My Aprilia Mille's acceleration felt a lot more assertive to my butt-ometer.

I've also ridden the StupidDuke. Flat out amazing in a roll on -- and scary smooth. Liked the riding position.
Have to look at the bags. A dealership visit may be in my future, thoygh I should just keep the Mutley

Im impressed with everything I've read about this bike and would love to take one for a test ride but I'm having a hard time with the pterodactyl look.

I found one for a look; no windscreen on it (?) but could at least sit.
It does seem a lot bulkier than the SD; it also felt more cramped. Bigger wider tank coming down was definitely a part of it.
Not helped that the passenger pegs are forward, down, and my heels ride them. Plus they are the mounts for the bags.
Bags seem tiny compared to MTS. I want to love the thing, but I find myself shooting holes in it. Maybe I'll just get the Ohlins SCU for the MTS and ride it a few more 10s of thousands of miles. Or maybe a test ride will change my mind!

I just read that the handlebars are adjustable forwards/backwards and up/down.
I dunno if it would change my opinion on the dirt bike riding position.

One day when I am rich like some of you here I will have one as another bike in the garage. I also love the "dirt bike" riding position. Just get a windscreen to take some of the wind blast off the chest and there you go.

Very interesting, but...
I'd be way more interested in it if it was a 850 - 1000.

Any more info? I see that there are still new left over unsold Super Duke GTs out there. The later model GTs have a different TFT dash display and one or two more HP. Not that it needs more HP!!! I'd probably go for a new 2016 to 2018. I like the 6.1(?) gallon gas tank on the GT over the 4.8 on the Super Duke.
