first time for me: put 50K miles on one bike

I've been riding on the street since I turned 16, back in 1965. Since then I have owned about 25 street bikes. There were a few memorable ones: my first (of two) KAW GPZ550, my old dependable SUZ GS850 (did a loop around the lower 48 on it), the 2000 Buell S3 in my avatar, a 2004 Blackbird, and a 5th gen VFR. As much as I liked all of these bikes, I eventually grew tired of them and felt compelled to sell them to help buy something else; I didn't get rid of any of them due to mechanical issues. For most bikes, the honeymoon lasted about 30K miles; I think the most miles I put on any bike (before now) was about 40K.
Last Tuesday the odometer on my '09 Norge went over the 50K mark; a big deal for me. This bike has been a lot like the two Buells I had owned: lots of issues, a real pain-in-the-ass sometimes, but I truly love the bike. I plan to keep the Norge going for as long as possible: hope to turn over 100K eventually. I thought about posting this on the Wild Goose Chase Moto Guzzi forum, but most members there would probably chuckle and think that the bike was just getting broken in. I do understand why those folks love their MG's and ride them seemingly forever.

Congrats! I've done that a few times myself, one I sold at 102,000, but never on a Guzzi. BTW, what's up with that name, Norge? Did MG make refrigerators at one time?

Sport,
Actually, my pet name for the bike is "the fridge". The name "Norge" means "Norway" in Italian. It refers to the name given to an ancestor of the model that, many years ago, rode all the way from Mandelo, Italy to Norway in order to demonstrate the reliability of the bike.

Congrats!
I feel the same way about my Guzzi...love it to bits.
I don't plan on selling it.

First bike I put 50,000 miles on was the first GS1000 I bought. At that mark it smoked a bit and used a tad of oil. Of course, I beat on it for all those miles. Then it became an 1,101cc engine. I used to go looking for CBXs to beat up on!!! Yeah, that was meant for you Sport!! I sure loved those bikes.

Congrats; I've got 52K and counting on my '09 GSA. It's fun to ride one bike that much as you really get familiar with the bike's nuances. Plus you save boatloads of cash by not having payments.

My current bike which I got in 2010, now has 80k+. It's my first to go over 50k.

My general pattern is 10 years or 100,000 miles. After that, my mind starts to wander.

Congrats! The KTM 950 Supermoto I sold just about a year ago was my first one to go over 50K miles (65K miles, over 100K kilometers
). I hope/expect to do the same with its replacement (1190 Adventure).
