Nice!  That is a really blacked out bike.  Is this the mount used on your recently posted border to border ride?

So far it's very nice. I can see us putting as much if not more miles on it as the Futura. We are planning a trip to Utah in June....

Don't you get confused when you walk out to the garage and are confronted with your Futura and the bike that's obviously inspired by it?

Is that because it's more comfortable, like more upright position, more leg room? Anything to do with the motor? How do the motors compare? You've got two great bikes there.   Thumbsup

Oh very much so.... But my Futura has given us many miles of fun.... 57K miles of wonderful times..... However like most things, the Futura is not being made any longer and finding a replacement was tough to say the least. The Futura has had some FI issues lately and I haven't been able to fix what ever is causing it (even $500 later from two dealers). So we decided to move on. Tired of not having been able to ride. We went and bought the next best thing. Again it was very tough but the GT is as close as we have seen to the ergos from the Futura as one can get.

The ergos as mention in the previous post, is pretty close to each other. My Futura has Germar (sp?) risers but the GT doesn't seem to be any lower OR higher in the handle bar dept. The seat is very typical for today's sport tourer, kinda stiff, but we are getting used to it. The Futura has one of the best seats I have ever had on any bike... Period.... We may get the gel seat from Triumph but not sure if we will need it yet. Let room seems to be a bit tighter on the GT but not by much. As far as motors compare... Well first off... the Futura is a 60' twin and with that comes the V twin torque, vibration and wonderful sound it produces. The Rotax engine has been built proof with only having to adj. the valve shims once in 56+K miles. The electrics have had some issues but nothing that the Aprilia AF1 forum experts couldn't handle....  Inlove Which brings us to the GT triple. Very smooth, lots of torque, nice sound from the stock muffler and did I mention smooth. Very refine bike compared to the Futura. Mind you, the Futura is a very European type motorcycle (not sure what that may intel but it sounds good anyway). I guess what I mean is... The GT fit and finish are way better, the transmission shifts better/smoother and at this point is a bit like a jap bike....???? My friends FJR has the same traits but with a bit more power of course. But the handling on the FJR is a bit more relaxed/heavier not as sporty.... So these bikes, Futura and the GT, are a Sport Touring bike, they have different traits, none which are bad by any means, just different. I hope I shead some better light on the two and we look forward to many more miles on the Triumph.... Thumbsup

May I recommend against the Triumph Gel seat?  While comfortable, it can scorch your backside and reproductive bits if left sitting in the sun for more than a few minutes.  Seriously.  It retains heat for a long time.

Thanks for the heads up. It gets red hot here where I live and we don't need any unnecessary blisters on our backside....  EEK!
