Though last year was a rain fest, I am up for anything that takes me to NorCal or vicinity.  Bigok

Ideas, on location and when ?

My suggestion? Quincy/Grass Valley.

Somewhere on the EAST side of the mountains.
RENO.

Warmer and less rain,  especially a bit later in the year.

Two months after this year's WCRM I went back up with two buddies. One of them was going to attend the WCRM with me and my friend, Steve, who some of you met, but he couldn't due to a death/funeral. He had never ridden North of SF so we went back up on a different route and stayed very near Quincy. Very nice up there.

I'm in again and I'll go anywhere. I just don't want to stay in a restaurant for hours staring at rain.

Quincy could be fun- has two nice roads over the mountains to the West and at least one restaurant that might suit us, Pangaea I think it's called.
The Sierra foothills South of there are worth considering too, Arnold, Porterville, several others could work.
The problem with all of the above is that in a good snow year all of the passes will be closed well into June.

Quincy, Arnold, Downieville.  All are surrounded by great roads and have the requisite assortment of accommodations and eating establishments our group requires.

I only care about one thing as far as WCRM is concerned this year.  It can't be Memorial Day Weekend.

Other than that, I'm good to go.

I enjoyed Quincy when we had our .5 there some years back.  I'd have no problems returning to the area.  I have a different bike and riding suit now, so it's likely I wouldn't be easily recognized.    Thumbsup

Has anyone considered Willits, CA. for the rally? I have attended a rally there using the KOA in Willits. Hwy20 from Willits to Fort Bragg is an incredible ride. Then PCH up to Leggett and into the Redwoods is a great ride.

The drive through tree, Leggett, CA.

20 is an awesome road indeed. But late May and early June do not have a stellar history weatherwise. Willits is over the coastal mountains, and I recall shedding layers on one of my rides out there from a chilly, misty Ft Bragg.

Anywhere we can get to without being snowed upon multiple times or requires the building of an Ark (save the sport-tourers two-by-two). Quincy looks fantastic but it would have to be much later than 2016 WCRM. Hiking in Lassen would be a nice bonus!

For the 2017 FJ West Coast Rally, we are having it at the Coloma Resort in Coloma, CA 1-3 June. The place looks plenty large enough for a large rally. The FJ rally is expecting to have nearly 50 people. I am sure the facility could handle a rally upwards of 100 people. https://colomaresort.com/ The general location is between Auburn and Placerville.

Fred, that resort is a cool looking place but weekend rates for camping, let alone cabins, look really high  Headscratch

I already have my reservations booked. I am sharing a Bunkhouse with 2 other riders and will be there 4 nights. My cost is $57.25 a night. I call that a bargain  Bigsmile Very easily could have 2 more riders join in and the cost will drop even more. Each Bunkhouse can sleep 10 and has it's own Shower/Bath.

Yes, I agree that a single person staying in one of the cabins can be pricey.

I concur with Viffergyrl. Good suggestion Jim. I rode through that area a few times over the years, and love the countryside there. The only impediment would be if the passes stay snowbound late in the year.

Quincy is a very nice 1.5 day ride for me at 900 miles. It also facilitates using 395 over my dreaded 97.
So I am very warm to anywhere in the vicinity.
