5th Annual Eskimo Joe's 'Ride to Eat'. Saturday 29 April 2017

Let's all ride to Stillwater Oklahoma for some camaraderie and good food. Arrival time is 11:30-- noon. There was a good turn out last year. Let's see if we can add a few more this year.

We may be able to make it again.  We have tentatively planned to do an Arkansas ride that weekend but some of the guys are grumbling about the date so it might fall through.

Count me as a maybe,if the weather cooperates ,(being April), and I can get off work . It's hard to plan that far ahead with overtime demands on my job.  Smile

Is that still a thing? EJs was a thing back in the 80s and last I heard they opened a chatchki place in Ardmore.

They have more clothing stores than restaurants. The one in Stillwater is huge and still very popular. Always have to wait to get a table.

Make me glad I've never been, then. Too much like a Harley dealership.

Average food with a cute logo. I still like going a couple times a year. It's still a fun place to go.

I will be there between 11:00 ad 11:15. I will put us on the wait list and if we get seated quickly, I will inform the hostesses that we are expecting more riders. Inform the hostess that you are with the Sport Touring group if you get there and nobody is outside. Hopefully this will make the wait time shorter.

I know several have checked the weather forecast. Who's planning on being there? I will if anyone else is going to make it.

100% chance of rain here in Tulsa. If its raining in the morning, I'm out. If it just rains on the way home, I'll consider going.

Tomorrow looks to be the worse weather in the five years that I have done this RTE.

The forecast from Wichita is 100% precipitation, but at the same time the text reads, expect scattered thunder storms. Then it says expect light rain in the afternoon. I will be riding to Stillwater tomorrow, regardless of the rain. Hope to see a few more riders show.

Look for me on a red R1200GS, rain or shine.  What time do you plan on getting there?

Not washed away, but well rinsed.  They said Stillwater got 4" of rain and I believe it. You made a good decision staying home.

Fred and his daughter came down from Wichita two up on his FJ and we had a nice lunch and conversation. They were in the gift shop when I bugged out, thinking I had a window to take some back roads to home. Boy was I wrong. Rode into a wall of water, high wind, and constant lightning on hwy 33 heading into Guthrie.

Assuming they got home OK, haven't heard from them.  Fred, are you out there????

Good for you. That's cool that you showed up.  Thumbsup   Maybe Fred will put together another instead of waiting until next year?

We used to didn't mind an occasional ride in the rain, but there was one year when we got rained on probably thirty times. If it wasn't so frustrating, it would've been comical. We seriously considered hiring ourselves out to drought-stricken areas. It just kind of soured us on getting wet.

The weather for this years RTE definitely did not cooperate.  Crazy It rained pretty much the whole way to Stillwater from Wichita. A 2 hour ride in constant rain will give you a reality check on how well your rain gear works. My rain suit let some water in, but I believe it was more of inattentive storm flap closure by yours truly.

Darren showed up on his BMW GS and we had an enjoyable lunch and conversation.

The ride home was uneventful. We must have missed the downpour and high winds that Darren mentioned. We only hit rain for about half of the ride home.

My daughter enjoying herself and the two water logged rides.
