Beginning in 2009, we have been putting together a free resource of the Best Eastern Motorcycle Riding as a way of giving back to the Motorcycling Community: http://www.newenglandriders.org/BestEasternMC.htm. That task has now been completed almost 8 years later. We give this away and want nothing in return. We do not even accept advertising. Over 74,000 riders have used this site. In my opinion, it is better than all others including the for-pay sites.

Now we have:

1) Best of the Northeast website: http://www.newenglandriders.org/BestOfNorthEast/BestOfNorthEast.htm. This section covers the Best Roads, Best Scenic Views, Best Restaurants, Best Things To Do, Best Places To Stay, and Best 3-5 Day Trips from Pennsylvania to Newfoundland. Everything is in GoogleMap and GPX formats.

2) Best of the Appalachians website: http://www.newenglandriders.org/BestOfAppalachians/BestOfTheAppalachians.htm. This section covers the Best Roads, Best Scenic Views, Best Restaurants, Best Things To Do, Best Places To Stay, and Best 3-5 Day Trips from Maryland to Alabama. Everything is in GoogleMap and GPX formats.

3) Eastern Bucket List: http://www.newenglandriders.org/Eastern-Bucket-List.htm. Top 25 things to do on a motorcycle in the East.

4) A great Agenda for learning BaseCamp & GPS. It is so good that Garmin uses it for customer support: http://www.newenglandriders.org/GPS.htm

Future plans are to create sections for the Ozarks of Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas and for the Texas Hill Country.

If you have comments or suggestions for our ride pages please post them here. If you need ride help in the East, come to our group and post your questions: https://www.facebook.com/groups/NewEnglandRiders/

Very timely for me. I'm going to head down to Gatlinburg, TN in June for a few days. After that, I may head north, via the quieter roads, to Portland, Maine to hop on the ferry to Nova Scotia. I've ridden in the eastern U.S. a few times but the roads that I took were usually chosen without much idea of what to expect; as long as they weren't interstates. This set of links will give me lots to ponder before I hit the roads. Many thanks to all who contributed.

PS, not sure if I missed something by why are some routes in red and others blue ?

PPS, the link to Prince Edward Island on this page is broken:
http://www.newenglandriders.org/BestOfNorthEast/BestRoads/Best%20Roads.htm

But, if you add in and "I" for PEIBestRoads instead of PEBestRoads, it'll work.

Ed, last year I was in upstate NY with some riding friends and we used your suggested day loops for your NER Lake Placid meet as a guide to pick some roads. Those suggestions were very helpful and we got to do some great riding in that area.

I am now getting ready to go down to WV in May and will take a look to see what you have as suggested roads down there.

Thanks for doing this.   Thumbsup

You can only create 10 routes on a Google My Map. These are easy to create and are shown in blue. All additional routes must be hand created point by point and take forever to create. These are done in red. It tells you nothing about the road.

Thanks for the PEI tip. It is now repaired.

Suggestion:  It'd really help to have map overviews of each your 'Best __ of ___' areas.
It'd help to know which are kinda near each other and which are on 'my' side of the area.

The majority of the 'GoogleMap' links I clicked were inop.   I'm using Google Chrome on Win.7.

I hate Google. They often change links and formats with no concern about the work that people put into the maps. Some maps took me hours to do. Kindly check and let me know if the links work.

For the Appalachian section I'd like to offer The Lost Sea, Sweetwater, Tennessee.
