Keep in mind the elevation in Prescott is higher than Phoenix and then you can always head north to Flagstaff which is around 7000 feet in elevation.  A little cooler.

If I remember right Prescott is around 4500 ish.

Summertime months temps average in the high 80's

I'm in the area right now. I'm working in Sedona for the next three weeks or so.

It's hot.

Sedona is too commercialized

I hope Prescott can maintain the small town feeling it has but I know it's growing fast. Too many people like myself who love the place.

All you need to be happy in Prescott:

1.  Great Family
2.  Dual sport motorcycle
3.  Mountain bike
4.  4wheel drive vehicle
5.  Kayak

The locals call it Presskit.

I still don't understand how you can praise a city of 100,000 people as having a nice small-town feel but bash a town of 10,000 as "too commercialized".  Rolleyes

Sedona is well known for that just as most other touristy areas in the world are
