Alert!  I was at the Oregon Trail Motel this past weekend for the eclipse and they did not include breakfast with the meal as usual

I am headed south on the 4th. Not sure I will make Baker or not.

How was the eclipse? Were the loons out in force yammering about the 5th moon of the dog star in ascension and aligned with earth during the eclipse and how that means that all the archangels are coming to earth?

Hope you can make the ride.

I know of another rider, on VFR, who will be attending Baker City.
He's not a forum member so he's not posting up.

Guessing probably on his Yamaha...

How was the ride?  I was not going to make it, but did spend time riding in Washington and Oregon, trying to navigate around fires, road closures and smoke. Ended up fleeing to the coast. My ride home included a failing rear bearing. Afraid I, despite a very slow ride home, pushed it too far and have a rear axle to add to the list of bearings, seals and parts   just pricing it all now. Ugh. Depending on availability, that may be it for the year.

So hope there was some fun in Baker.

It was a good ride with mostly clear skies and moderate temperatures.  Attendance was down this year with only 9 riders, at least partially due to smoke concerns that were not a problem, at least not while we were in Baker City.  Sorry you couldn't make it.

The ride was fun, and the company good as always. The 2 steves, Jim Cecil and I rode Dooley Mountain Road in the morning, with me needing to bail and head back to Baker City to get my rear tire replaced. Steve (mcrider) also headed back at the same time.

That Dooley road was FUN, and intimidating. Tight, tight turns, and often gravel right in the middle of them.

When Sunday came I took a nice route on OR 7, then OR 26, and finally US 20 to the coast at Waldport, and spent 2 nights camping at Beachside State Park. Then Up the coast and the I5 to Bellingham. Got there too late to make the freight forwarder in Blaine so stayed at Motel 6.

The riding was fun. As Steve mentioned, the smoke was negligible at best, and the temps very mild. Great weekend for riding, and what a choice of awesome roads.

I'm glad you folks had a good time,  nine is a pretty good turnout by recent West Region standards. I may stop in Baker City next month after I pick up my new bike in Missoula.

It is a shame you could not make it, given what happened on your way to Bubba's ride in July. Hope the new bike treats you well.

Looking at the  tire in that light, the tire it replaced surely was cooked!

Lefty's was a cool spot for a drink or two ;-)
