mapping out my prostate surgery recovery ride(cancer sux, but I've got the all clear now) & am thinking about a ride thru the Seneca Rocks area before heading to pts. west.  Wondering how the teepees are for camping at Yokum's campground?  I will be packing a tent, but this would be just for the novelty of it... Crazy   anybody tried them out?
Time frame will be last minute, around the end of Sept / first part of Oct depending on the weather.
Hopefully this will be ahead of all the road clogging, colored leaf seekers in their wallowing, slow-as-hell motorbarges.

Can't speak to the teepees but I have camped
at Seneca Shadows campground a few times.
Very nice and recommended.
It's just south and opposite the Rocks on 28.

Yeah, what he said. The campground is nice. Never stayed there, but there are cabins between Seneca Rocks and Petersburg (in "Cabins, WV" very near Smoke Hole Rd).

The teepee's are awful. Really awful.

The good accommodations are the rooms above Yokum's or the campground at the intersection. There is a campground about a mile north on 28, but that's not walking distance to Front Porch Restaurant.

I stayed at the Yocum Vacation Land lodge while passing through. We came thru late in the evening, looked at the joint, and kept going. There is NOTHING else around, so we ended up turning back and staying. IT WAS NASTY!! I opted to sleep on top of the covers in my clothes. Easily the worse place I have stayed in all of my travels. We have since joked that the "Vacation Land" part was meant as a vacation from reality. I'd keep looking if I were you.
