In recent years the NorCal coastal mtns have been reliably rainy and sparsely attended. John Day/Baker City have been dependable, but I nearly froze solid on the way up a few years ago. We’ve never been to the Southern Sierras - some great roads from Sequoia NP south. Sierra Rally used to be based in Porterville which gives good access to roads but the town is iffy - maybe Visalia. If the lack of snow persists, central Sierra passes could open early.
Mid May to mid June.

I rode into Yosemite NP today up to 6,000' and there was NO snow anywhere.  If this keeps up the Sierra passes may open earlier than usual and the towns around the foothills should be nice and dry and warm.  Rides over one pass and back over another can easily be done in less than a day with plenty time for stops and pics.  I would post a pic of Yosemite Valley but this frikkin website doesn't allow jpeg pics.

Just checked a lot of the web cams along the Northern Sierras, from Tahoe up through Lassen. Not a lot of snow to be seen.

Somehow, I think you were referring to me! LOL  Bigok

First, I think we ought to select dates and a locale. For me, some time in late May I am considering a trip to the UK for a bit. So, I'd like to keep that in mind. I also have a commitment on June 4 that I cannot escape.

Snow ought not to be a big concern this year:

Dragging this one out for old times sake.  Sierras in mid May?  Sounds interesting.

Could be. Go to Caltrans and look at their web cams. Not a lot of snow up there this year.

Sierra snow pack was only 20% of normal as of last week. I doubt snow is going to be much of a factor there this spring - drought seems to have set back in across the region

I am likely going to be going to the UK this Spring, late May, so I am thinking I will be out for this one.

It is getting pretty close to Spring. This year I have MUCH more time than in the past. I have ride plans set up with motorcycle buddies already but I would like to see some of you again, or for the first time, this year.

Dang, that looks fun. However, I am not sure I will have the time to get there, as I fly in the 18th, back the 27th. It is also mid term break, so my sister will likely have a ton of stuff planned for her family and I to do (camping in Wales, etc). But I may just have to go up on the Thurs before, and come back the Sat. It would be cool to attend.

Here is a suggestion for dates.  Smile

May 31- June 3rd, This is the weekend after Memorial Day. Camp grounds are typically not as crowded, Everyone went to the Lake/Beach/Mountains, etc etc, and camping the previous weekend. Traffic is lighter and easier to navigate the twistys.
