This is where we stayed in 2012 - http://www.arnoldlodgeca.com/

Looks like it's available but avg $120 per night for 2 qeen bed room.

Nice looking place, but with the current exchage rate that is getting up over 150.00 a night for those of us on the North side of the border.

So far people have mentioned the following venues:

Visalia
Placerville
Auburn
Coloma Resort
Three Rivers
Arnold

Things to consider:

1. Need cheap hotels
2. Need cheap booze
3. Need cheap eats
4. Proximity to good riding
5. Ease to travel there

Shall we pick a place pronto and start looking at local hotels? I have already booked the time off. I am GOING to go riding somewhere, and would prefer if we can get this meet sorted as I like hanging around other slightly abnormal people  Lol

The Sonora and Ebbetts passes have opened, highways 4 and 108.  The Tioga (120) is clear and should open soon.

Those routes look gopod to me. Now, where to stay? If we are going to do 4 and 108 and any other raods in the area should we rack out in Angels Camp or Sonora or another place nearby?

Has anyone thought of the east side of the Sierras on 395?  Those coming from the south could ride 395 all the way on the east side or take several two lane foothill roads on the west side and cross up and over.  Since all the passes except for 120 have opened Iím taking advantage of it and riding over 108 to NV just across the border on Monday and then back over 4.  Thereís a nice Super 8 there and itís location is great for all the Sierra passes as well as Tahoe, Carson City, Virginia City and Reno if anyoneís interested in that area.  Thereís a casino there too.  The Super 8 is actually on Topaz Lake south of Gardenerville.

What is the name of the town with the Super 8?

Seems the thread has died some. No one seems really interested.

If we can peg a specific locale, I will finish research into hotels to get this thing firmed up.

The Super8 is in Topaz Lake, Nv. There seems to be only one restaurant in town at the other hotel- Topaz Inn. Iíve no idea if itís good.
Iím not 100% sure I can make it, but will try if something happens.
There are quite a few hotels with availability in the Sonora- Jamestown area, but several of the inexpensive ones
have few rooms left per Hotels.com. Lots of eating/drinking there.

The Country Inn in Sonora has quoted 79.00 per night for the 30th through the 3rd. They will not block off rooms. Seems like a good deal, and close to some of the nice roads in the area. Any other ideas?

The Mother Lode in Placerville has rooms for 67 a night. I vote for Placerville. It's on US 50 and lots of good looking riding there.

Can we now get a head count?

Both of your alternatives sound fine to me. Is anyone else interested?

Let's call it Placerville, then. Mother Lode Inn. 67 bucks a night or there abouts.

I'll start up a sign up thread.
