Well I made it there and back, 3500 KM round trip. I traded texts with Bubba Z but seemed to be on the wrong side of the lake most of the time. We only were REALLY close to fires the last day or two, where we saw flames from the Highway.

I went to Alberta to nerd out on dinosaurs on Monday, but got rained out so we had to discover fossils in Tupperware containers, too bad the rain did not dump 800km to the west. I can not control the weather very well, it seems.

That's really how smoky it's been throughout the BC interior (particularly in the valleys) for the last month or so. We finally got a little bit of a break in Kelowna on Monday after some rain and I saw blue sky for the first time in weeks. Now the sky is gone again and the weather people say we're likely to get back to the thick smoke. This is now the second worst fire season in recorded BC history so far (last year was the worst) and things are still burning.

^ above are my memories of the Big Smoke of 2018.

Not as wild as the Hurricanes in the SE US, though.
