Let’s resurrect the Region 6 Campout! (posting this on STN and STO)
Here's the info:
The Plan:Spend a weekend camping near great riding roads in WV. Ride during the day, hang around the campfire at night eating, drinking and swapping
lies stories. I will be onsite early Friday afternoon to get the Group F campground taken care of. Arrive whenever you can, stay as long as you like.
When:Friday September 21st through Sunday September 23rd
There will be no raindate
Where:Seneca Shadows Campground near Seneca Rocks, WV
Campsites:I have reserved the "Group F" campsite as our "home base". The group site can accommodate up to 20 people, but only has 5 tent pads (all tents must be on tent pads). We had no problem fitting 2 tents per pad in previous years (so long as they are not too big). If you are not interested in staying in a group site you can reserve regular sites and gather at the Group F "home base" for cooking/drinking/swapping lies around the fire.
If you want to stay in the group site post up and I'll add you to the list. The cost will be $140 divided by how many people we can get on the sites - for example if we have 10 campers each person will pay $14 for the weekend).
Regular campsites are $13 - $19/night depending on location. There are normal car-camping drive-up sites and a collection of "walk-in" sites. The large group of "walk-in" sites are supposed to have good views of Seneca Rocks. Those not staying in the group site should make their own reservations.
Food:I don't normally cook while camping, so if you do here's your chance to shine. Our group site has 5 grills and 5 fire rings, so there will be ample room for food prep. I'm sure we can work out some collection of money for the chef(s).
Nearby Restaurants:Front Porch Restaurant and Harper's General Store are nearby
If anyone knows of more post up and I'll add them.
AlcoholWe had no problem in previous years with drinking at the site, but you should plan on keeping a low profile. Don't ride in with 2 cases of Yuengling on your seat and we should be good. A decent selection of cold beer is available at the nearby country store.
