It didn't look like Yamaha was going to bring this to Canada. I don't know why but the standard cruise control makes me happy. However, the price is a bit of a shocker at $14,600
https://www.yamaha-motor.ca/products/details-build-price.php?model=5096&group=MC&catId=1
Other than the steep price, the other disappointment is the same-size FJ-09 gas tank. Shouldn't a touring model carry more than 18 litres? I already have range anxiety thinking about riding the Baker City / Ukiah area where gas may or may not be available, depending on the day of the week and the direction of the prevailing winds.
Really nice pre-farkled bike with a great motor!

It does appear to have some good stuff but the price and the weight (500lbs) both seem a tad high.

Finally having a bike with true cruise control, I gotta say, it's amazing during those freeway drones. Oh, and a quickshifter? Yeah, let your addiction begin.
The Tracer GT probably gets over 50+ mpg in cruise/touring mode, and 18 litres = 4.8 gallons. So that's 240 miles to dry. After 200 miles I'm ready to get off anyway these days.
You could always carry another gallon in reserve if need be.

Realistically, my FJ-09 gets 45 mpg so about 220 per tank. The low fuel light starts obnoxiously flashing way before that and puts the scare in you. For the record, I do not consider this a true touring bike and would not recommend it for that specific use.

220 is pretty good. Why wouldn't you recommend the 900 for touring?

Stock, it's not comfortable enough for more than 300-400 miles per day - in my opinion. I don't tour so it's not an issue for me. I should note that I'm old, fat, and tired too.

I’ve been cross country on a 2015 FJ-09 a bunch of times and ridden more 600-800 mile days than I can remember. It works for me but I’m only middle aged, fat, and rarely tired.

On a recent midwest-to-west-coast trip, I was concerned about the FJ09 tank capacity a few times. Mainly when doing north of 90, when the mpg is sub-40s. If not giving it the stick, I could average 45 or more.

Good to see some people around here are still putting the SPORT into their sport touring!
