Lake Abiquiu is where we have stayed a couple times to camp.  The painter Georgia O'Keefe used to paint near there and stay at the Ghost Ranch, which is also very cool.  I have hiked up Chimney Rock.

We rented a GS from a guy named Chris White.  Very awesome guy indeed.  Put on about 600 miles in the two days we had the bike.

We loved the Angel Fire area

Also White Rock overlook and the Caldera National Preserve.  Route 4

We also loved Taos and Santa Fe, of course.

Good luck and enjoy.

So even closer.

The plan was for a "lunch ride". Out and back. About 520 miles each way.

You guys are alright! I think Eskimo Joe is in Stillwater? That's about 600 miles from my home. Probably too far for a day ride for you sissies but I can do it.

I seriously doubt that I could do 600. 400 is about my maximum, although I've never really tried more.

From my Missouri Ozarks ride in August:

Start earlier. Stop less. Don't linger while stopped.

You're welcome.

Blue, you are in Rio Rathole now?
I live here also, have we met anywhere?
I'm near western hills and unser, the Brew house is very close to home  Wink
I'm usually riding the Jemez, or up around Mora to RR at least once a month.
Have done a few SS1000's looking to do more.

We may have passed each other a time or two. This Friday at 10:00a me and a couple of buddies are going to Jemez for a burger. A month or so ago me and one of the buddies were coming back from Jemez and I turned off and followed a BMW to around your area. You? I was on the blue FJR.

Give me a PM and we will meet up for a coffee when you have time. I'm retired so I have a lot of time.       Bigsmile

Sorry, it's been way too long since I checked in here!
Blue, looks like you've been busy getting out and about.
My Beemer is a blue and white R1200RS, so if that is what you saw near my neighborhood, that probably was me   Smile
I'm retired from the military, but couldn't afford my riding habit and had to go back to work.
But I am looking at two consecutive 3 day weekends coming up, so if the weather is nice, I'm up for riding   Cool

I was sort of upset when I learned that the fed was closed yesterday. I knew it was out of respect for Bush so rolled with it. What chapped me is that, because I retired in 2012, I didn't get the day off from work.
