Many Relationships are conducted on cell phones and social media now a days and this will only get worse in the future.  I hate to think of how many relationships are mostly texting and social media without live interaction.

So basically guys aren’t taking girls for rides on the motorcycle like we once did back in the day.

Make any sense ?

Not to get too far off topic but I've talked to people(not my friends!) that tell me of their great friends and then say they have never actually SEEN them!!!!!!!

Back to subject-  seems today most everything is individually focused so no back seat needed and what a great way for manufacturers to reduce cost!

                                          Lol

Reducing cost.

There is probably some sense to this.  Companies are looking to save every penny.  They are interesting in the next quarterly statement.

http://www.motorcycledaily.com/2018/10/suzuki-unveils-2020-katana-speed-and-comfort/

Could motorcycles possibly get any uglier than the junk that has been produced the last few years or so?

Katana was known to be a really good looking machine back in the day.    This new thing is uglier than sin itself.

The new Katana isn't even new. It's just a  GSX-S1000  with different plastic. Same engine, same frame, same wheels, same exhaust, same mirrors, same handlebars, probably same switchgear and instruments, etc. The only difference is probably how bold new plastic mounts to the bike. The Katana also has a fuel tank that's 1.5 gallons smaller (only 3.2 gal). Crazy Lol

People are getting all hyped about this bike for some reason. It's an absolute dud. I mean, if you weren't excited about the GSX-S, why would this bike even get more than a bored look from someone?

I find the GSX-S unbearably ugly. But the Katana evokes enough of the original Katana style to make me happy.
As far as the tails go...the first thing most young guys with new sportbikes do is a "tail tidy" to get rid of the junk in the trunk. All the cafe racer guys go for a solo seat and hump, and the hipsters go with a skateboard deck seat with a napkin on top. All remove the rear end to emulate race bikes. The only style I like is the cafe hump, but I guess that is where the trend is going.
Passenger space seems to be the last consideration! My girlfriend is 5'10" and she is too tall to fit on the back of a stock anything!!! (Except maybe a Guzzi California or a Wing).

Concepts aren't on the market, so they don't count.
But, the FTR1200 concept was sure nicer than the production models.

Why would someone who doesn't ride, or doesn't ride more than 6 blocks at a time need more than 3 gallons of gas?

Its a nostalgia trip for people who don't know what a GSX-S is, and were too young, or too broke, or had some other excuse that they couldn't own a Katana in the 80s - but they had the poster.

The designers have all been reading too much Manga and watching too much Anime, then diving into the Mad Max franchise. They think the ultra angular, futuristic is way cool. Those links sure led to FUGLY bikes. Especially the Huskies. YUCK!
