Riding jackets for kids

Hey guys, looking for some input as searches on google gave very limited suggestions and searches here only bring up posts 7-10 years old.
My bike is my daily driver. I drop off my older son daily (15 years old, 145 lbs... same weight as me already lol) only about 1.5 miles from home.
but something changed this week. My younger son (12 years old, 80 lbs) just got accepted to a tutoring program at his school and gets done with tutoring the same time as I get off work 2-3 a week and his school is about 6 miles away from home. I know it's "only" 6 miles but I want to make sure that he is well protected I found a few affordable kid helmets and gloves, but other than the alpinestars youth bionic jacket and a EVS 'Sport Comp Suit' (both look like they are made more for motocross/dirt biking) all I can see is worthless chinese made pseudo jackets that I just don't trust.
Has anyone had experience with the Alpinestars Youth Bionic or the EVS Sport com suit?
Does anyone know of any products more suitable for street riding?
Thanks.

Sorry, I can't comment. We just buy the cheap stuff.

Is it armored up or just like a padded jacket? I was hoping for something armored. Seems the majority of stuff is just leather jackets though.

Our two youngest daughters rode with us a lot until they became adults. Now, they are just no longer interested. We didn't ever buy leather. We always did textile or mesh. The only armor is in the elbows and shoulders and they have a soft, rubbery back pad. Luckily, we've never crash tested any of it.
