I wish I lived near him too!
I used to live in far Eastern Oklahoma County when I was in the Air Force (twice - almost 10 years total)

Oklahoma is a very surprising place contrasted against what a lot of people think. You can go long distances without seeing anything all that amazing but that makes the wonderful surprises all the better when you do come across them. I have spent very little time in NE OK. Okemah and Okmulgee (Morris) are about as NE as I usually get other than passing through to get there. But it's NICE. ALMOST every part of the state has some neat things if you get away from the Interstate.

My wife flew there today to be with family as we have a critically ill loved one (Covid). I am just recovering from Covid (mild case- I  got the jab) so I have a couple more days before I un quarantine and I couldn't go for now.

I'm gonna probably mow pasture tomorrow because nothing is good for your lungs like mowing 7 or 8 acres -- haha.
But at least I'll be outside. Maybe Sunday I can ride and complete a few more locations on my "Great Coddiwomple" (BMWMOA Summer long rally)

The other Jay
But maybe I'll get back on the bike Sunday.

Were you at Tinker? My grandparents lived about a half mile north of Tinker in Midwest City from 1944 until they passed in '97. I loved visiting them. I would sit outside and watch the planes go over. There was a motocross track just east of Tinker at 59th and Douglass. I raced there many times - even broke my leg there once.

The most recent pic is at Okmulgee Lake.

Sorry about your Covid issues. Hope it works out.

Good job. I love pictures like that one. Gets one to wonder how old, why and what happened.

I've been there many times and just happen to have that info.

It's Yonkers School, Oklahoma. Yonkers was a little town along the Kansas, Oklahoma, and Gulf Railroad just east of the Grand River. It was in existence from 1913 to 1953.  The town and railroad were abandoned when the area was flooded by the creation of Lake Fort Gibson.

The old railroad bed.

----
Indeed I was at Tinker. 82-88 and 92-95
Lived in MWC and Choctaw

That covid issue I alluded to... It took my best friend/ brother in law. He passed 30 Aug.
We had a memorial service mid September in Midwest City.

I officiated at the burial of his ashes today in Morris and we'r here (Choctaw) until Saturday

Maybe in 2022 I'll get the opportunity to meet you. We're talking about retiring in NE n the next few years to be near Sis in law. She's retiring in two years and moving to Collinsville area to be close to Grandkid(s).

I like viewing this thread. Makes me "homesick"
p.s. Went by Okmulgee Lake today on way back to Choctaw. 56 from Okmulgee to 62 in Okemah is a nice drive.
