I know a non-zero number of people who have had it and it ended their competitive endurance riding career (halos as night, etc.). It's why (combat?) pilots can't have it and keep their ratings.

Consider how much you ride a night. I now have halos from cataract surgery. I have driven at night in the year since it was done but stress levels are really high (halos) and I now avoid it except when I have to, and then only in the car.

I have a bum right eye and need glasses to read out of my left eye. I went for an examination and they said I was a perfect candidate to have my right eye done for reading and leave my left eye alone. They put a contact lens in my right eye to reproduce what lasik would do. I am one of the few that could see far and read when needed.

They told me that lasik has to be redone every so many years so that eliminated the idea right there.
