I just moved from the mountains of Colorado to Tucson a few months ago, and am just now getting out of the bikes.

I've ridden up to Mt. Lemmon a couple of times, and found that it's always trafficked and always has cops.
I live near the road-squiggles near Picture Rocks and have done a quick ride thru them.

What compelling roads/rides are there for day rides near Tucson?

I lived in Tucson for a year when I moved out of the Phoenix area. That was twenty-five years ago. Other than Mt Lemmon, I can't really think of any good rides in the area.   Shrug

As I recall you have to go North or East. 100 plus miles to start.
