This morning I will arrive at 7:30a for our weekly meeting. There are 10-15 of us that solve the ills of the world and drink coffee for an hour to an hour and a half. I'm riding to the meeting with my gear and will leave a bit early. Then, I will meet Steve in Creede, CO for lunch. We've eaten several times at this little BBQ joint on the corner. Great food and they have put out tables and chairs under the big trees.

So when I leave the meeting I have about three hours to go 254 miles to arrive at noon!!!! I can make it all the way on the FJR1300 without stopping. After an hour at lunch Steve and I will come back to my place. We plan on getting back about 4:00p or so. Then a nice BBQ on the grill. Full day? Nah.

Steve purchased some land here last week so he needs to come back for some paperwork and register another of his motorcycles here. This time he is bringing his Hayabusa on the trip. Here in New Mexico it costs $18.50 per year to register a bike and it doesn't matter what year the bike is or how big!

254 in 3 is a challenge. Most rides, I spit ball an average of 50 mph to cover overall-average (including stops of any kind). Adding an hour bumps the overall-average target by 13 mph.

Sounds like a good reason for a ride.  10 days ago I did something similar.  I rode 406 miles round trip for a BBQ lunch.  My average speed was just over 70, almost 75.  Lunch with friends is always a good reason for a 400-500 mile ride in a day.

     Plans!

254 miles? No way. Lousy GPS garbage. It was about 275 miles. I was about 25 minutes late so not bad. Then, every place in Creede to eat was shut down!!! So we had to ride back down the road to South Fork for some convenience store food. Great ride for the day and good weather. About 550 miles for me today.
