As a former Guzzi Griso owner I wish they would bring back the La Mans.

Guzzi will never win any prizes when bench racing with spec sheets. Just know the bike will have a "vibe" and handle pretty well. The motors have decent torque and love to spin up in the RPM range. They will excel in smiles per mile.

I know more than one current V7 (50 HP) owner that also has 150+ HP bikes in the garage that say the V7 is their favorite to ride. That said, my wife had a Breva version of the V7 that I maintained and rode quite a bit. I wouldn't want one in the fleet. The beast that is the Griso on the other hand.

As a former Guzzi Griso owner I wish they would bring back the La Mans.  

Rumors from Mandelo is that might be in the offering in the next go round of filling out the line with V85 engine bikes.

I am a bit disappointed this "new" iteration of the V7 still has old school vintage suspension. I was hoping they would go with a modern setup like they did on the V85TT.

I admit, I was a bit too harsh in my earlier comment.  I have never ridden a MG. I would love to someday.  I have always liked how they look.

Unfortunately, they don't make a sporting bike anymore. Best thing they have is the V85TT, mid-size adventure bike.

Don't pass up a chance to ride a Griso, if one ever becomes available. You'll either hate it or love it, based on your perception what riding a real beast is like.

You may imagine that KTM is a beast, but it is much more refined, and dare I say controllable, than the minimalist and torquey Griso.

A friend of mine was a Guzzi enthusiast -- except whenever we went on a ride together in WVa he'd want to switch bikes and ride my modded sv650s....   I was scared of the red "lead sled" -- it was vibey, felt like it weighed a ton and like it would handle like a M1 Abrahms --- it always surprised me at how well it ACTUALLY cornered and held a line / was on rails through corners and sweepers... because it just FELT like it wouldn't.  Maybe if i had ridden it enough to get over the pit in my stomach as I approached every curve, I'd have gotten to like it...

Check out the 50's and 60's and the Dr. John bikes!  

What model was it? The Cali's handled fairly well for a cruiser (it had the same Tonti frame as the Le Mans sportier bikes), but weighed in at almost 600 lbs. The new (post 2000) Le Mans and Daytona's (with fully adjustable up-side-down forks and rear mono-shocks) handled a lot better, even though they were 500+ lbs bikes. The CARC bikes (Breva, Norge) were mid 500 lbs and handled well, but were really top heavy, so they took some getting used to. The Stelvio (Guzzi's answer to the BMW R1200GS), also a CARC, was 600 lbs but handled as well as the GS in the corners.

The Griso was a CARC, but it has a completely different frame than the others. It is low and long wheel based and comes in right around 500 lbs. The last iteration, 1200 8V SE, is what I have now and it is closest to a beast as anything I have ever ridden. But it does do moderate radius corners really well. A little too long in the wheel base for quickly going around switchbacks though.

The Le Mans series was the best. I agree, they need to bring these back in modern form with a single shock, please.
