They are no different than a lot of businesses now. Seems quite a large segment of business is on life support. We will see a much different picture of life these next few years than ever before.

I do believe that as well.  HD’s market base is mostly blue haired.   They need to get through to the youngens somehow.

I kind of remember this same thing happening back in the old AMF days.  HD was on life support then as well.  I hope they find a way clear and soon.  Motorcycling wouldn’t be the same without them.

As a recovering Moto Guzzi owner I can remember them in a similar situation.  “Moto Guzzi, going out of business since 1923”.

Guzzi's biggest seller right now is the V7 line. A lot are sold to younger people (under 40), who want the old school "character" (looks and feel) with new age tech (phone connectivity).

And I will reiterate how crazy it is the number of motorcycles being sold by the dealerships around where I live. Same with pedal bicycles. Sales up and stock way down.

I bought 2 new bicycles in 2020, one for me and one for Debra (now we have almost as many bicycles as motorcycles). Doing our part for the Chinese economy!

Seems almost all bicycles are made in China, including high end.

Many bicycles are actually made in Taiwan as opposed to mainland China -- as are most drivetrain components (Shimano and SRAM)....

I must confess I didn't read the article but scratching my head on how to stop your business from dying when your customer bases next ride is a mall scooter.

HD mall scooters....Oh man  Inlove

I am pretty close with my son & his group of friends who are all plotting to get their bike licenses next year. I had a pretty funny conversation with them trying to find out their preferences of what sort of bikes they liked. I asked this 20 something group if they would be cruiser riders sport, dual sport maybe they would like to be pirates? riding on harley Davidsons? They more or less told me that the chances of them donning skull caps over their freshly styled locks, wearing big belt buckles on their skinny jeans just would never happen even if hell froze over.   Bigsmile

I know a lot of riders that hell froze over, once they got into their 30's & 40's.
