So, I have over 700 miles on it.

Got the decat pipe on and exhaust valve elimination chingus on. Runs better and still gets 50 mpg.

The bike came with the rear shock adjusted to position 3 of 7 positions. I adjusted it down to the lowest preload of position 1. WOW! Very smooth. Soaks up the bumps real nice.

Me and the buddies went for our 100 mile burger run. The bike runs better. In the rolls ons in the higher gears and through a couple of gears 3rd to 5th to 10,000 rpms a distinct positive difference is noted. I still got 48 mpg when I got home.

Really liking this bike. I have not put the different bars on or the lower foot pegs yet.

Considering the lack of miles you've put on your last two new bikes, I think that's a pretty safe bet.  Razz

OK, I thought we were buddies.   Sad

 Hail

I used to ride and swap with a co-worker that had a ZX14 -- my ZX-10R was faster, but his bike made speed effortlessly -- mine needed to be flogged -- and mine got nervous at 150+ unless I dialed the steering damper up or tucked properly - the ZX14 felt planted...  Longer rake and wheelbase on the ZX14???  Never looked into it -- we both decided we had made the right decisions on our bikes...    his 300lbs swamped the ZX-10R  and the ZX14 was a bit much for my 5'6" 150lbs build.

Twelve years ago when me and four others rode to the STN Region 2 meet in Silver City one of my buddies(who had just won the number 1 plate at the track for the year) took his GSX-R1000 race bike. We switched bikes and he was really impressed with my ZX14. It had handle bars and a TRE to make it much more responsive along with slip ons. He said it was so comfortable and had low end power his 1000 could only dream about. As for my impression of his bike? I could hardly wait to get off it!!

His bike was so low geared that he could beat me from a 6th gear roll on. When we went back to 50 mph in a lower gear I walked away from him!

I mostly ignored this because you had the temerity to even bring up a GSX-R1000 in this post after I mentioned the ZX-10R as if they were comparable...    Thumbsdown

It has a bit over 1,000 miles now.

 * Added small windscreen
 * Decat pipe(reduced weight by about 9 lbs.) and exhaust valve elimination chingus
 * Removed air box restrictor plate
 * Added aluminum CNC lowered/adjustable foot pegs
 * I switched out the stock 17t sprocket for an 18t sprocket. About 6% higher geared now

Very smooth almost no vibrations at all. Tons of low end torque and a top end rush that will scare most. Gets great gas mileage!! Is a legitimate 200 mile, without stopping, motorcycle.
