Going back through this thread when it popped up on my "Show new replies to your posts" button, I realized I posted pics of my old bike. Since she's gone now (damn red light runner), figured I'd update the thread with some pics of my new bike.

All cleaned up and ready for the road:

I certainly appreciate Kawi's C14 but to me, an ST should be smaller & lighter weight, ala the Triumph Sprint ST. Your former ZX14 fits that mold too.

Some of the guys over @ zzrbikes modded their ZX14's in similar fashion to yours- hard Givi bags that better match the bike's lines, higher bars, better seat, etc. & built themselves some mighty fine ST's, the emphasis on Sports but still plenty of Touring potential. Sure it lacks some of the C14's bells & whistles but to a purist like me, I don't want or need them the extra weight, don't care how well they handle @ speed. 700+ lbs. does not translate well into the sport aspect. Gimme an ST in the vein like yours and boom, good deal. Nicely done, sorry it's gone!

Posing at home after a jaunt on BRP [in background].

Sure, the ideal ST would be the size of the Sprint ST, but dang, some of us just can't get comfy on such a bike anymore. The GTR14 is commendably tight in her chassis; all her hardware is solid, too. The Audiovox CC installed by PO works as well as BMW's. What's not to like?

YMMV,

My best friend for 33 years died suddenly last year; he was 59.  He found out that he had Esophagus Cancer, Stage 4.  One of our last meetings he said that he wished he had bought a new vehicle.
Well, Last November I decided to buy a new motorcycle rather than waiting later.
I also dropped 20#.  I feel great.
I bought a new 2012 ZX14r and followed the recommendations with bags, bar risers, seat, shield and other farkles making my last sport touring rig.
I will be out in my tent this summer making more memories.

I traded away my Sprint ST for a C14 last year after the move to Colorado. With the nicer summer weather my wife has more interest in going out for rides in the mountains, with the 8 month long summers in Texas she had little interest.

Sold my ZX14 yesterday and picked up a barely used 2011 Ninja 1K...

It came with a full Akrapovic exhaust, PCV, Sargent seat, Throttlemeisters, and heated grips...already got racks ordered to mount my Givis.

Just picked up this 2013 ZX14R SE ABS, the first new bike I have owned since 1986! The last new one was my first bike - a KLR250, I rode the wheels off of that poor thing.

It is in good company, it stable mates are a XX, a Tiller, and a DR650.

Finished my luggage kit.  The trunk is so handy, like a second tank bag.  Rode to Kansas last week for my 45th High School reunion.  Slept in a tent, on the concrete to avoid the Chiggers.  The temps were 63-72 degrees in July!

I downsized and moved back to Team Green earlier this year. Now I wish I hadn't sold my soft luggage when I got the Buell.

Picked up my New 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000LT a couple of weeks ago. What a great machine! I sold my Kawasaki C-14 with 60K on the clock to get this one in the garage. Love me some Kawasaki!
