Sorry to spam here, but I figured it's been kind of slow so why not post a millions pics!
Anyone interested in moving to out to the country? My parents old place will be going up for auction June 20th. Open house May 31st. 3.5 miles west of Woodstock, VA. Main house is three bedroom 2.5 bath, home office, sitting room, etc. Guest cottage (aka mother-in law house) is one bed, one bath. Original house built in the 1760's. Custom cabinets, woodwork, Stone, tile, brick or hardwood floors through out. Barn, garage, workshop, small fruit tree orchard. Pond, and small stream, sitting on 24.88 acres. Should be up on auction site tomorrow. Hate to see it go but it's WAY more house than a single dad would ever need and I can't keep up with two places. Cuts into too much riding time! If anyone is interested in taking a deeper look let me know and Ill send you a link to the auction page info for the open house when it gets put up on the web.
Some pics of main house outside and first floor.
Some pics of guest cottage:

Nice looking place. Good luck!
Thanks. If it doesn't go at auction I'll go with a realtor and get it on the market. It's one of those places where it's either exactly what someone is looking for or it's not even close to what they are looking for. Sort of like buying a Victorian. If the fit is right there is high interest because of the relative scarcity, if there isn't interest in an early american home then makes more sense to just buy or build build new.

Ho much does a place like that go for? Looks really nice. But my commute would be a bit long!

Very cool place - we were looking at something similar in Waterford in north Loudoun before we moved a lot more west.
Good luck with the sale - I'd try to keep special property like that in the family though if I possibly could.
Once gone - it never seems to come back.

The county has it appraised at $530k which is high. I had an appraisal done and it came in a fair bit lower. I have set the reserve for 50k under what the actual appraisal came in at. I figure that gives a buyer plenty of room to update, freshen up, and whatever else they might want to do and still come out good on it.
... and on my side of the equation I don't have to deal with it sitting on the market for an unknown period of time, deal with contract offers contingent on the buyers house selling, etc. And all that while having to maintain and pay taxes on it while it's on the market.

Thanks. Yeah... I've really struggled with letting it go but it's too much house for just one person and I don't want to rent it out. I also have a bother and sister that I'd have buy out. Anyway I crunch the figures it's just not really doable.
Oh, here's a few shots of the 2nd floor of the main house. Figure I might as well spam some more.

Got out this morning -- working getting quickly through the engine break-in period. Up to 279 miles. One rural pic and one pic just for Joey.

That bike makes perfect sense for you. You've always loved nakeds and BMW's and S1000's, it's perfect.
I spent Monday riding a similar bike at CSS Level 2. Had a blast this year, now that I know the track better and the turn in/apex/exit points. Instructor told me I need to get my body hanging off the bike way more than I do, which feels totally weird. But the pictures prove that what I think I'm doing and what I'm actually doing are way off.
Either way, that's good because it means I'm going too fast for my current body form, and there's plenty more speed to be found.

I went out on a Gilligan this morning; turned into a Gilligan +1. The goal was to get the odo over 1,000 miles. I failed, only 965 miles. I should have slabbed it the whole 200 miles to reach the goal, but I took Rt 50 then 15 to get to Rt 55; that ate up over 30 minues. When I got to Front Royal I had planned to go south on 340 to 211, but it was too late already. Took Rt 66 back in. I stopped for gas and a water break; no stop needed for aching back or wrists! At the water break on 66:
