Joey and I met up for coffee (tonic water for me) and pie at Mom's Apple Pie. Short ride there, then he went off for more riding while I slabbed home. Good to be out riding.
I saw this at the place, but I didn't try it.

OK, so last weekend I wanted to replace all the bulbs on the bike with LEDs. Besides being the thing to do now, the S1000R has a poor light pattern and the LEDs enlarge the pattern.
The thought occurred to me to contact Joey and see if he had some free time to help me. But, no, heck, I can change bulbs on a bike.....
....in a few hours......
......with only a minimal amount of swearing......
......grrrrrrrr........
.....I should have called Joey......
But it did all go back together with only a couple of bolts laying about.
BTW, you can see the results here:

Nice ride this morning. Ended up in The Plains, so I had lunch at the Front Porch, on the front porch.
And the lunch:
This place across the street had a ghoul on a Kawasaki in the window. I didn't know Kawasaki was that scary....

Got out for a couple of hours today. What great weather -- no heated gear needed! Rode here and there and ended up going north on Snickersville road. Only one 'Doh!' moment: In one section the road pitches down for a ways, then back up. As I begin to enter this section I see two things, a rider on a Ducati riding south and half a dozen vultures next to the road inspecting a deer carcass. The Ducati gets to them first and, of course, two vultures decide it is time to fly across the road in front of him. He brakes and misses them. As we pass he waves at me while shaking his head. As I reach the carcass another vulture plays 'taunt the rider' and takes off in front of me. I crouch, brake and avoid it. Rest of the ride is enjoyable and I meet Dot for lunch which makes for a splendid day.

I was out Saturday riding and traveled to Culpeper for lunch at
http://www.shawnsbbq.com/
. Outstanding BBQ and I understand there's one in Warrenton now.
Got stopped just outside Culpeper due to someone else's crashing. Got in heavy downtown traffic in Culpeper. Ate lunch then headed on 522 N to 211 back to Rt 11. Just west of Skyline Drive I came across the weirdest thing ever. Well not really "ever" but weird enough. Fire departments were out extinguishing the remnants of fires(s) alongside 211. There would be a burn spot for 30-40 yards then a big break of 30-40 yards before hitting another burn area. This went on for at least 1/2 mile. I talked to a state trooper while I was stopped waiting for my lane to open and he said everyone was baffled how this happened. Other than that it was a great day to ride. Started chilly at 0730 but warmed up nicely.
