Hi Lazaris

I'm in Melbourne so a bit out of the way, but you never know.  The club may be heading over your way later this year.

G'Day all - Robert from Brisbane here

Have spent 15 years riding, mainly in SE Qld and NSW - then made the serious mistake of shipping our bike to Europe about 5 years ago - and spent 6 months riding there with my wife. Supposed to be the "Once in a lifetime" big trip.

We have now spent the past five years working like dogs and are currently planning to go back (for the third time) next year...

I pass this on to warn all the younger ones of the dangers of addiction  Smile

Cheers!

Hi Pete - I know my bank manager would like me to get rid of this addiction!

Seriously, the amount of fantastic roads, great food and wine, brilliant scenery, lovely people, amazing history and sheer motorcycle friendliness of Europe is hard to beat.

Where are you heading?  Are you shipping with Dave Milligan from Get Routed?

Cheers

PS - Don't forget to "keep right!"

I used a broker here in perth to ship the bike over and have green card insurance through mototouring in italy.i pick my bike up in the uk then im thinking i will head down through france  spain and portugal chasing the sun then head back up towards the alps and probably work my way around to croatia.no hard and fast plans.ive sent my camping gear over with my bike so will have a mixture of camping ,b&b's and hotels.I have a copy of John hermanns book "motorcycling through the alps and corsica"so will use that as a bit of a guide once im in the alps.

Awesome!  You should have a ball!  Make sure you tell us all what you get up to.

P.S. Don't miss the Dolomites - seriously...

Been a member of S-TN since last October and only just noticed this thread.  Rolleyes

Cantankerous old fart in Perth; ride a BMW R1150RT.

Leaving in a week to ride east -- Adelaide, GOR, Snowies, back again. About 8500 km over 3 weeks and a coupla days, with Dearly Beloved (otherwise known as the Leader of the Opposition) on the back.

Should be fun.

Just registered. Ben, Sydney - Northern Beaches. Riding a GSXR600. The long days and luggage carrying are getting the better of me so the gixer is for sale and I'm thinking about an ST 1050. Looks like you guys are in the know for this kind of riding!!

G'day mate ... yep, GSXR600 and a long = my back aches just thinking about.  Bigsmile ST1050 has had some damn good write-ups ... they say the engine is unbelievable. My only "concern" for touring is that I prefer shaft drive, so I don't have to mess about with chains on the road. But that's just me.

FarRiders' aims are to encourage safe long distance riding within Australia along the guidelines of the Iron Butt Association who have been in the forefront of Long Distance Riding for many years, known within the sport as LDRiding. So nice ! Smile

G'day lads
George here from Sydney. Done most of my long distance travel on the boat which is now for sale since I've become addicted to riding. So far mostly weekend or long weekend trips around NSW but who knows. Wife prefers the boat and I'm happy to solo on the bike.
Been a while since anyone posted here but I just joined the forum.
Cheers
