Please excuse my naivety. What is the significance of the #7 on Moto Guzzi's? Who rode with that number?

Number often used by Enrico Lorenzetti. A Moto Guzzi rider who won the 250 world championship.

I was curious when I saw the numbers on the V7 and looked it up last year.
