Thanks chornbe Bigok At $209.99 it was a deal by waiting/deciding it went down to $199.99 with free shipping, had to get one. I have been looking at used ones in the $150-$200 range but this unit comes with a factory 1 year warranty Thumbsup I considered a lower model to just get used to using GPS (nube) but glad I held off. Thanks to all others with their input about best units and mounting hardware.

Is that a good price on their motorcycle mounting kit for the 2610? or can a better price be found elsewhere?

Uh, much better routing, more maps with more accuracy (updates), enhanced point of interest searching and... oh, yes, a larger, color display.

Talk to me about water resistance!  I don't see it even mentioned?  Is it water resistant?

Thanks!

Tuff -- yessir, it is . . . .

All -- got mine last night, and am ready to install the software, using the 173,492 digit unlock code ;-}

my question is, can I have this software installed on more than one computer? the docs do not seem to mention this item.

thanks!

Thank you sir!  Smile  I found a really in depth (but old) review.  http://www.gpsinformation.net/sp26xx/sp2610rev.html

Case: Rugged; fully gasketed to IPX-7 waterproof (only with the CF card slot cover closed).  Remote control NOT waterproof

I know the review is old because the author talks about a 1GB CF card running 200 bucks! LOL YIKES!!! I think i can get them at my grocery store for $12.99...hahahaha

I'm gonna order! Smile

My experience with my other gps units is that they do not know what computer they are hook up to as long as the same software is on that pc.  My Handheld is a little different since i have that hook up to sync with email and such.  These units aren't normally very smart.

Since i'm really anal,,one more question.

Are these pictures an accurate representation of the graphics on the unit?  They just seem very antiquated.

http://gpsinformation.net/sp26xx/2610photos.htm

I realize they are probally from 2003 and not 2007 as these units probally are more updated.  Just making sure.

What is the CF card for?  Does this thing play music or is it for more maps?

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this unit...

While there is no "3D" view they are hardly antiquated but I will chalk that up to perspective. MY first GPS was a Magellan Meridian Platinum with a greyscale display. It would take longer to refresh than a good crap after eating a week long no-fiber diet.

I fond nothing wrong with the display modes of the 2610. The have not changed.

It's for maps. If you're about to drop 200.00 on an item I would recommend going out and reading a few reviews and doing some research to makes sure it would suit your needs.

I have been doing a few.  Like I said, I run a GPS V right now, and it does a decent job, but it would be nice to upgrade to something a little more bike friendly.  The GPS V, while being great for hunting, is not that great for the road trips.  It's limited in memory and routing.

The more I think out loud, I might hold off for a year or so and hold out for one of the 3-d units...

No, but if you call Garmin (and you can probably do it on the website, too, but it's easier to call) to register it, you will be qualified for a free upgrade to V8.
