So the top end is new, but what about the crank and bottom? I assume the 883 crank is not happy pushing a piston that is double the size and mass.

Well, I think the crank is actually the same part number for the 883 and 1200, so I don't think it's too big a stretch. That thing must run like a raped ape in the low end; the 883 has about 550 RPM more per gear @ speed due to lower secondary reduction gearing. The stock rev limiter has a theoretical top speed cap @ about 120 or so on the 883, but the stock 883 engine doesn't really put out enough torque to generate enough power to get there.

That's an excellent looking bike.  You gotta respect a guy that goes his own route, rather than the usual skull & crossbones.

(Funny how many H-D threads there are lately. People are positively obsessed!)
