Tis the season to be in port.  That's your clue.

I've been to Springport several times & I have never noticed that mural. If I have time & the weather is descent, I'll try to run out & grab it. Man I wish I still had the GT...

This historical marker is in the city, but you don't have to ride every urban hill or urban dale to find it.

Given the clue, I was thinking it must be in Hillsdale, MI, but after riding around the city of Hillsdale, MI, for an hour & a half & asking 3 different people from the area & even stopping at the fire station & asking, nobody here has ever seen it. I guess I need a different clue. My Googlefoo came up short as well. I'm done looking for it today, so maybe someone else can come up w/ it.

Bugger. We were in Battle Creek(East Leroy actually) on the Beemer yesterday! Maybe we'll take the Concours out this weekend if the tag is still available! No more riding the Speedy until after the 500 mile breakin service...

I saw it this morning, but I was in the wife's car. If it's still available in a couple of weeks,  it's mine!

This tree has a story:

Legend has it that a young boy worked the field next to this tree during the Great Depression. He went without shoes for several winters and lost his feet to frostbite, infection set in killing him while he was still in his teens, before he died he cursed the fact that such a basic necessity didn't grow on trees. On the first anniversary of his death a pair of shoes appeared on one of the low hanging branches.  Since then every year more more shoes appeared on the tree, it is said that his ghost can be seen each night as the sun sets watching over his crop of shoes.

I often though about tagging the shoe tree.  It will give me a reason to ride when I get my bike out of the shop.

So I Google Show Tree in Michigan.  I'll be darned if there are at least 13 different locations for shoe trees in MI!
I tried to find one associated with Michael's story but all I could find were locations having to do with a serial child killer, bizarre, wasn't expecting it to be so intriguing LOL.
Not sure if I'll go after it but can I get a hint on where this one is?
Thanks,
Gerry

Wow, I didn't get any of the results you got when I found it. Search more for Michigan oddities. It might help to listen for a "bell" "ding."

Ah, OK, thanks Mike.
I Google Michigan oddities and found this web site with the story about the shoe-less farmer and the tree.
