Based on the discussion in the "ESTN09" thread, it seems there is consensus on having ESTN 2009 somewhere in New York. Let's nail it down a bit so that someone (maybe local) can step up and lead the discussion on lodging, dates, etc. This poll runs for three weeks to allow plenty of time for voting/discussion. You can change your vote as options are added (if any are suggested). Consult the map if you are unsure where or how big the parks are.

NOTE: The point of the thread is to see if there is a clear preference for the Catskills versus the Adirondacks or trying to split the difference.

Your options are:

1) Somewhere in the Adirondacks. Think more northerly i.e. Lake Placid, Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake, etc.

2) Somewhere in the Catskills.

3) Somewhere between the two (northern Catskills to southern Adirondacks) so that you can ride either/both.

4) Either Cats or Dacks are fine. No preference.

5) Other. Got another suggestion? Specify it in a post, plead your case, and I'll add it to the list of options. Anywhere in Region 5 or 6 is fair game.

Feel free to lobby for your location by noting the roads, lodging options, stuff to see/do, scenery, lack of traffic, etc, etc that makes your preferred choice a good one. Note that based on the last two years, plan on 50-75 people attending, so lodging capable of handling us booking about 30? rooms is required. Nearby camping is a bonus too.

I'm not voting. I like any of the above, as long as it's in N. Ga next year.  Bigsmile

More gun Control!!

Oh wait.. you said lobby for location....

I voted between Cats and Daks.. but I'd prob lean more towards the daks. I've heard of quite a few good roads up that way, and I'd love to check them out.

Sure, the more the merrier, but it'd make more sense for us all to park trucks at YOUR house Smile

It would be cool if this one were during the summertime. If it's during classes, I may not be able to come. If it's during the summer, I may be able to make an epic trip... Wishful thinking. Whenever/wherever it is, I'll try to make it.  Thumbsup

Hey, you could fly up and ride one of mine for the meet up if that makes it a quicker overall trip.

At least we know there is no strong preference and then we wait for someone/anyone to step up and organize it. If no preference, then maybe simply finding the best lodging deal/location will determine where it is.

Take a look at this site as a suggestion for a place to stay.  I was there last summer and it is a beautiful place.  Maybe a little dry, but meals are included.  It's in a great location for access to lots of  great riding.  The site is "silverbay.org".  It's not what you think.
