I never understand when mfgs do that. It would be sooo much easier (and less chance of service dept problems) if they just put in a new motor.
A buddy's Suz TL had porous cases. Mine just had a porous frame that Suz replaced under warranty (eventually..) after it cracked.
A motor swap was not an option. If it was they'd likely give me a remanfactured unit.
