I've been checking out some of the photo tags in regions 1, 2 and 4 over the past couple days. It looks like a lot of fun and we seem to have a fair number of members from the great Diamond State and surrounding areas so what do you say? Any interest? Delaware is a small state, we should be able to turn tags over pretty quickly.

Standard rules apply:
  • YOUR BIKE MUST BE IN THE PHOTO. Attempt to reproduce the original tag photo
  • NO FILE PHOTOS. You are not allowed to use existing photos from previous rides/trips either to get the current tag or to place a new tag
  • NO TRAILERS, TRUCKS, ETC. You must ride your bike to the tag (yes, it's been done before, hence the rule)
  • The first person to POST a photo of their bike at the tag location, gets to pick the next tag location. It's not who gets to the tag first, it's who POSTS THE PHOTO FIRST. Might be wise to learn how to post photos from your cell phone while on the road...
  • You may take a photo of a new tag on your way to (hopefully) getting the current tag (same day), but other than that exception, use of any photo taken prior to getting the current tag is forbidden
  • PICK INTERESTING TAG LOCATIONS. Pick spots that are fun to get to, have some historical interest, weird/zany, whatever, but consider what clues will be needed to find it. If you make it too obscure, the game stalls. Better to keep the tag moving than having people searching for a tree in the forest
  • Tags must be with in the State of Delaware - Elkton and Kennet Square are close but not close enough
  • The new tag must be posted within 24 hours of grabbing the old one. After 24 hours the previous tag is up for grabs again

I'll start us off easy, so easy in fact that I won't provide a clue unless someone asks for one...

I am not completely sure if "photo tag' means I am to guess/name the location, but if so I would say that is the watch tower at Cape Henlopen.  Assuming that is correct, I will post one.  For a hint I will simply say that it is not far from 13 Curves.

The idea is that you take a pic of your bike in the same location.

This one is not on the Cape. This is #3 of 11. Actually, there are 13 but only 11 are in Delaware. I picked this one because it's extremely easy to ride right up to.

Alright Smile, now that I have the process straight I will play the game.  Given the coming weather I doubt I will be the first to this one, but we will see.

Nah, I can think of at least 2 weeks worth.  Razz

Actually, I have a list of about 30 locations (so far) that I'd like to use. Most of them are south of Lewes though.

You might want to consider adding the rules typical of "tag" games/threads on other boards:

- YOUR BIKE MUST BE IN THE PHOTO. Attempt to reproduce the original tag photo.
- NO FILE PHOTOS. You are not allowed to use existing photos from previous rides/trips either to get the current tag or to place a new tag.
- NO TRAILERS, TRUCKS, ETC. You must ride your bike to the tag (yes, it's been done before, hence the rule).
- The first person to POST a photo of their bike at the tag location, gets to pick the next tag location. It's not who gets to the tag first, it's who POSTS THE PHOTO FIRST. Might be wise to learn how to post photos from your cell phone while on the road...
- You may take a photo of a new tag on your way to (hopefully) getting the current tag (same day), but other than that exception, use of any photo taken prior to getting the current tag is forbidden.
- PICK INTERESTING TAG LOCATIONS. Pick spots that are fun to get to, have some historical interest, weird/zany, whatever, but consider what clues will be needed to find it. If you make it too obscure, the game stalls. Better to keep the tag moving than having people searching for a tree in the forest.

I've been playing "tag" on ADVrider in PA and WV and we also have a Pittsburgh region version going. The rules really do help.

I think this sound like an interesting thing to do, especially after the "easy" locations are hit.  I am sure that once the weather turns up a bit this thread will see a bit more action.  Heck I am already thinking of TAG locations.

Ok, to simplify...

1. Ride yer bike
2. Post a pic that looks like the previous one
3. Post a new pic
4. Don't do anything that make anyone say "We need a new rule"

The idea is to use the game as a good excuse to ride, possibly checking out someplace new. Figuring out where the tag is from the photo and clues can be a good challenge too. But, yes, people have actually posted pics of their bike on a trailer (not allowed) or used file photos (not allowed) to attempt to claim or post a new tag.

And be prepared to place a new promptly after getting the current one. I usually have the new location (or multiples candidates) picked out and do it all in one ride. Most people expect the new tag location to be posted within a day or two of getting the current one. Of course, winter slows things down a lot in the northeast.

It's good to keep current on the posts, even when there's hundreds of 'em. This fall I grabbed the tag in the northern part of the state and moved it down to the south, for winter, only to discover that I'd left it a 100 yards from a previous tag. How embarassing. Fortunately there were plenty of folks to point out my short comings Lol

It worked for me, as I was quick to pick up the new tag and drop it off elsewhere.  That was fun.  Can't wait to play again when the weather breaks. Thumbsup

This sounds like fun, but I prefer to ride WEST of Baltimore, not east... anyone in Western MD/PA interested in doing something like this?
