Last season I hosted a New England Treasure Hunt during the riding season. Basically it was a list of 50 items that you could find all over New England, some many like Covered bridges/waterfalls and others were just one, like Floating Bridge/Pink Floyd.  Then each month I would put up a bonus location, sometimes it was clues in a poem forum, and it required a lot of googleing  to figure out what it was. Then some were just far off excursions that took some time to get.  It was set up by me, run by me and  funded by me.  I had a ball doing this.

This is happening again this year with some new twists and turns. If you wanna play come here and check it out.

I remember that last year before ST.N went down.  So who won?

I'd thought about something like that, incorporating funky landmarks.  Like the giant metal squirrel by Lake Dumore in Vermont, or the tin man on Rt.112 or the wooden bears on Rt.8A in Mass.  Easy stuff that didn't require much thinking.  Smile

Keith, it was mostly people from NER that really got into the race.  Todd took a huge lead right from the start, but by mid summer Willy got in the game and had some great rides that took him all over New England getting big points.   Willy ended up catching Todd at the very end and took home the $100 gift card to Whitehorse Press.

Chris, there are some easy stuff on this years list, but some very hard ones as well.  The monthly bonus's are set up as riddle's so not only do you gotta figure out how my twisted mind works, then you still gotta go out and ride to get the points.

Here is a taste of one from last year....

Once was said of this fine man,
Pompous are so your phrases you say..
they search & search across our land
trying to find Ideas on such a day

Before it ended, it came to a end
At the city by the bay
A cool man took over, for he had to wend
to foggy bottom on a summers day

Now figure out the name
And you will see
For there are six the same
That you need to post to me

Get wind first and then visit to see
5,000 points will  add real fast
you score will climb suddenly
The others you just may surpass

Once the puzzle is solved and the photos flow
the rest can play for they didn't know
only 1000 points they can get
So then become not much of a threat.

This was so much fun last year.  On days where I was looking for somewhere to ride, I looked at the list, grabbed my camera and off I went hunting.  There wasn't much pressure for me to do this as I was doing it for fun, but I still finished in 4th place.  Willie was the man and Todd was up in the ranks also.  This year, the time frame is much shorter for the rally, so I'll have to plan a little more.

Have fun with it!
