I've never met an STNer I didn't like, in person.

I'd like to meet anyone I've ever conversed with on this site, even those who dislike me here for my opinions.

I've already met some rockstars - County, DD, Bluepoof, Twist.  The lately quiet Spinalator was one of my favorites, not quite as weird in person as he is in print, though.  R Marcus and Krismark.  Everyone who's showed up for various R4 Meets, Coffee meets, ESTN's, and Nationals I've attended.  The Seattle crew (Fritz, DD, and more, got to meet Kitkat and Fastcat too) for an attack on St. Helens.  Some lovely Bay Area types (Poof n Rocketbunny et al) who showed me Alice's Restaurant.  GTS_Rider and co. for a ride through Angeles National Forest.

A swell bunch.  Looking forward to meeting more of you as time goes on and I start riding for fun again.

^^^This

I haven't met many (Dr. Gil, Bluepoof, Miles, Lawn Dart, DogBoy (last night!) and a few others I'm forgetting), but every single one of them has been a blast to be around. Makes me wish my riding skills were a little better so I could ride with them all without being left in the dust.  Lol

Dred, are you in Vegas permanently? I lived there for 4 years and might be able to help out with local rides here and there if you need it.

As permanently as these things go.  Depending on work and family, at least til June, maybe 6 years, maybe more.  Don't see myself doing much more than combat commuting (and oh, is it ever combat, as you probably are well aware) for at least a year though.

Well, by car or by bike, if you need a nice relaxing place to get away from the insanity, I'd recommend Willow Beach, just across the river on US 93 on the AZ side.

I understand it's even easier to get to, and nicer now then it was when I lived there. (the new Hoover Dam bypass bridge wasn't finished, which made getting across the dam a pain, and the road in to Willow Beach was pretty torn up - apparently it's all been freshly repaved).

There's a nice store/restaurant there, it's a popular launch spot for boats/kayaks, but overall, it's just a really nice bend in the Colorado River, at the edge of the canyon, that feels secluded even when others are around.

Other spots are more popular (Valley of Fire, etc.), but Willow Beach was always my favorite place to go when I needed to "get away". Smile

Please excuse/forgive my Harley in the third shot.  Bigsmile

I was looking for the time to take the fam to either Zion or Bryce Canyon, but Willow Beach looks like a much easier day-trip.  Any good hiking around there (easy, since one of us is going to be carrying the baby in a harness), and any idea if the trails/beach might be dog-friendly?

Thanks, mate!

Not a hundred percent sure on that one Dred. I'm pretty sure it's dog friendly. There's a decent area to walk around, but I don't recall if there were any trails. There also used to be a restaurant there, but it's been almost 3 years now since I've been there. My riding buddy is still there and drives for Pink Jeep tours. I can put you in touch with him if you'd like. He can point you to almost any recreational site in the area.

The one thing they have a lot of is boats - primarily canoes and kayaks.

Here's some more info: http://willowbeachharbor.com/

For a nice day-trip with an easy walking trail and some nice sites, I would recommend Red Rock - just to the west of Summerlin. There's some nice views from there as well.

http://www.redrockcanyonlv.org/hikes_trails.php

Valley of Fire has a wide variety of trails too - from very easy to moderately challenging. One trail opens up into an area where a few scenes from Star Trek: Generations was filmed.

Hope I've helped a little at least. Smile

I see Frenchie every day and he's still at the top of my list.  Inlove

I've only been to a couple of meets, but so far all of you guys are awesome in person (even the ones who can be kinda shitty on the boards). Smile

I want to meet everyone I haven't yet encountered, but a few shining stars come to mind:
