So I just had a bike shipped that came to me with damage (Aprilia Falco w/street fighter kit). Not that that ever happens.  Rolleyes

Issue is the part that was damaged (front windscreen) is no longer available and unGodly rare to find on Ebay. Not sure how to put a price tag on an item that I can't easily replace. If at all. I paid $4K for the bike but to sell it now I'm guessing it's at least worth $750 less. At least in my mind. Any thoughts on how to estimate a price in this scenario?

Depends on whether it was damaged by the seller or the shipper.
Any way to find out?

I should have been more clear. Damaged by shipper during transport and admitted to.

How bad is it hosed? Can it be fixed at all, i.e just scratches cracks? might be able to heat those out.

In pieces. I've been searching custom made shops as new are not available and used ones are very rare. There is one on ebay, broken as well, but enough left that I think it could be a template for a custom built one.

In that case, maybe something unique (if you're going custom, why not?) rather than replicating the OEM one?  Could be fun...  Burnout

Not sure what year etc., but here's a couple that are on eBay now:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=aprilia+falco+windscreen&_sacat=See-All-Categories

And there's some implication that there may be model crossover, which would help.  It looks like you should at least be able to get enough info to spec a price out - it actually doesn't seem if they are that expensive, just hard to find.

I have the rather rare pre-Tuono Aprilia street fighter kit that was available 00-03. The screen is different.

FYI after some late night googling I found a guy in Florida that can recreate new screens. I found a damaged one on Ebay that I can use as a template as mine is in pieces...

God I've heard so many horror stories about bikes damaged in transit I don't think I'll ever ship.

Fly/Bus and ride seems like the only way to go. I'd be seriously pissed  Mad2 if a pristine bike arrived all banged up with plastics broken.

I was going to suggest Gustaffson down in Florida. I used his screens on my 1980 GS1000S many years ago. Perfect fit but you had to drill your own holes at that time. Might want to ask about that.

I've used them on a couple of BMWs I've owned in the past. Good quality.
