Group dinners can be nice, but personally, I would consider them optional. As long as there are some eating options within walking distance (after the post-ride beer drinking starts) we'll be fine.

Sounds like you have a fine plan coming together Mr Benevolent Dictator sir!

I spoke with the folks with the Day's Inn in Fancy Gap.  They were very nice and said they will call me back by early next week with a discounted room rate AND they were going to call a few local restaurants to help us coordinate a group dinner.  The dates will be Friday 9/14 - Sunday 9/16.

They also said they would provide us with a centralized room (after removing the furniture) so we can register folks and hand out t-shrits (assuming someone jumps on that).

If we're unable to coordinate a group dinner, I'll move on to another location in SW VA or eastern TN.   Bigok

I'll let you know what I find out.

I knew there was a reason I liked you  Lol  Thanks for the effort Doug  Hail

Very cool Doug. Thanks for your effort.

I agree with Garry. A group dinner is totally optional. A stack of pizzas in the parking lot would work just fine.

I don't see PA on that list anywhere...

There's got to be some decent roads somewhere in that state.

Do they still brew beer in Latrobe??  Headscratch

How about Pottsville for some GOOD beer?

GooD?Not really, drinkable if there is nothing else yes.Crappy Lager in truth. You need to drink some German lager to understand, hard to argue with the people who invented it and have been brewing it since the 1300's

Let me pour you a Coors Light, and then you tell me again whether or not Yeungling is good beer.

It's all relative.  PS: You don't have to drink the Coors.

Yuz gize and your beer.  If the choice is based on beer, you have to get Mr.Awesome's approval.  That guy has beer tasting down to a science  Lol

Asheville has at least one micro brewery and I'll bet anywhere we pic has one close.  And Jack, Budweiser has/had a brewery here in Spartanburg, but I sure wouldn't recommend coming here for ESTN.  Besides don't Budweiser, Yeungling  and even Coors have these things called trucks  Headscratch

I repeat "Good".  If I was gonna sit around and drink beer all day or all eve Yuengling would be one of my choices.  i would never choose Bud, Coors or Miller.  Sitting in a bar or a few beer at home with dinner or a movie I would choose a fine Ale or Microbrew.  Once in a while a Barleywine or trappist makes me very happy.
