You all realize Beartooth is a LOT farther North than Colorado.
It is Excellent riding,  close to Yellowstone, and fairly cheap.

It's actually close enough to me that I'd probably make it between work assignments.

The possibilities boggle the mind.  SEA -> WCRM -> National -> SEA, all with 6 days off work.

Say it with me - Red Lodge

I've not seen that much when I've passed through, but I am intrigued. Cool

If you say it's worth it, I'd be game.

So what about lodging, food, and most important, beer?
Are these things within walking distance?

Edit:
A quick check reveals the only hotel under $130 a night is booked for those days.

I won't knock your efforts for red lodge, but I found the winter park hotel I stayed at ( America's best value sundowner) for $72 a night. It's run by a retired immigrant family which were very nice.

Montana would be a cool (literally) venue in the grip of summer. I wouldn't mind hearing a few more 'you betcha' and 'eh?'.

If I have the cash and time, I would like to see Montana....

So is the the national T-shirt is going to have a Typhoon class sub painted with an American flag? Motorcycles shooting out the torpedo tubes.
Including 'The Skipper' tipped ICBM missiles launching.

Yeah! There's your theme.

*** oh crap*** I'm back in Illinois... How will I get there with no bike?!

I just called  http://alpineredlodge.com/ at Red Lodge. This might be an excellent option. Nice place and Trish was super friendly and they are motorcycle friendly. The rates are as follows:
Single room $105 a night
Double $115 a night
Camping on site $35 for a two person tent
All rates include a FULL HOT BREAKFAST each morning.
There is an area where we can have BBQ, cook our own food, or they also cater everything form hot dogs and hamburgers to full steak dinners.
There is a motorcycle wash area with soap, water and towels.
Walking distance to http://redlodgeales.com/
And best of all, you get to ride Bear Tooth Hwy!

Sounds good to me. If we want to do this, I'll set up the hotel and reservations. We'll have to decide about dinner and t-shirts. If somebody wants to take that on, that would be awesome. I don't do artsy stuff.

I second this. Stray cat should start a new thread to declare this direction.
