US 221 from Blowing Rock to the BRP.  You get great views of the Viaduct from this section of road.

Looking like 600 miles from my door in MI acording to mapquest. Planning on slabbing out of the enchanted mitten and northern OH then down through eastern KY. Anybody have some good road recomendations in the eastern KY area. Would like to cut through KY and pick up 16 at tazewell for the final leg down to sparta.  Any recomendations would be appreciated.  Thumbsup

Route 32 in KY runs from Morehead to the WV border. The section from just east of Morehead (jct 172?) to Sandy Hook is awesome, and not to be missed. There are some fun bits east of Sandy Hook to Isonville, then mellows a bit.

I believe it is paved!   Bigok

from wikipedia

Quote
SR 738 (Caroline, Hanover, and Spotsylvania Counties)

State Route 738 is a 38.38-mile (61.77 km)[69][70][71] secondary state highway in the U.S. state of Virginia between Richmond and Fredericksburg. It begins at State Route 646 northwest of Hanover, heading north and west to cross U.S. Route 1 at Gum Tree. From there it heads gradually west and north, mostly along an old alignment of State Route 1 (now US 1), through Coatesville, Chilesburg, and Partlow. SR 738 ends at an intersection with State Route 208 and State Route 606 at Snell; SR 208 continues northeasterly via Spotsylvania to US 1 south of Fredericksburg.

Crazy  Back in 1998 I rode a Kaw Vulcan Classic 1500.  I got on the BRP in Asheville, heading for a rally in Boone.  I was tired of throwing that big cruiser around the twisties and said to hell with this and decided to get off on Hwy 80    Boy was I in for a treat,  Lol  Went from the frying pan into the fire.  I would love to ride it again with the C14  Bigok

Well, while there is no room for error on NC 80, the penalties on VA 80 for an error are much more grave.

Speaking of roads...

I will be coming down Thursday from just north of Fredericksburg, VA, and wondered about advice on a good route to take to Sparta.
I assume the BRP is the obvious choice, but wasn't sure if it's the best.  I have driven a good part of it several years ago, but never ridden it.  Anyone know of a better twisty back road option from there?
