Huricane Helen and I had such a busy summer that, unfortunately, we had to forego organizing SNOB III in 2012.

(For those who don't know, SNOB stands for Somewhere North Of the Border and it's the most fun on two wheels you can have in the northeast. And you stomach will thank you, as well...)

However, the third iteration of SNOB will happen, between Friday, August 2 and Monday, August 5 2013!

On our to do list:

  • Finalize the menu (the theme is picked, though)
  • Update the website
  • Map out an incredible tri-state loop (VT, NH and MA MI MN whatever-the-abbreviation-for-Maine-is
  • Update my sig line below...

See you all in August in Sutton, Qc!

SNOB III is definitely on my radar this year.

Taking one or two days of vacation time should not be an issue.

If I go, I'll show up with a 2013 R1200RT that is on order.

Judy and I would love to see you and Helen again. We haven't been ANB (anywhere north of the border) since snobI. TOO long. If there is a list please put us on it.

If you recall I left early from SNOT ll or lll to meet my daughters new boyfriend, some French guy. I subsequently missed another SNOT or SNOB when the 2 of them came from France for a visit. This year I return July 31 from a visit to see them and Marcel ( pictured below). I hope to make it on the Monster with a couple of City of Bones Crew Tee-shirts for any fans who might attend.

Hopefully next year.

Bonjour J-F, Fred et al.
Emerging from my slumber. I'm hoping I can make it out there, actually I don't see too much preventing me as of now.
I understand Fred will be garbed in beret and leather goggles on that naked beast. He can ride in my wake to reduce the neck beating.
Look forward to seeing y'all. (Y'All? Sorry, I meant "tout le monde")

Routes for SNOB III
Saturday: head to the US of A and hug the border in northern VT, NH (through Dixville Notch), Route 16 north (this time...) to Maine and return through QC, making a stop at Lac Mégantic. Not for  disaster porn, but these folks need thre tourists' dollars. Maybe drop off a donation for the red cross. Check with Acadian Rider regarding tax receipts.

Sunday: to be figured out the day before after supper. Traditionnaly we go south, to accomodate our American friends who don't have an extended weekend.

Note for those slabbing it from where the Stanley Cups lives, not because there's a good hockey team there, but because that's where the Hall of Fame is located...

There's a new highway that allows you to go around the Island of Montreal, called Autoroute 30. Two new bridges and a dollar-something toll. See http://a30express.com/en. It spits you out of Autoroute 10, or you can take 104 through St. Jean all the way to Cowansville.

The exit for the new highway is East of the exit for the scenic route, on 201 South and 202 East.

Travel note no. 2:
From the Autoroute 10, take exit 74. Exit 68 (which says "Sutton" and route 139 South) has a closed bridge on 139, north of Cowansville.
