I've been in the area before. Stayed in N.E. PA and Reinbeck. There is a mc friendly campground on the Deleware River north of Port Jervis, too. I'll go where ever it is but I prefer the Adirondacks and Vermont. Was in Vermont this fall. A lot of new bridges and fresh asphalt but also so work left to be done.

Hancock is home to the "Catskill Chill" jam band festival Sept 6-8.
Some sort of cruiser rally called "Catskill Mountain Thunder" is typically mid September at the Blackthorne Resort in East Durham.
Another cruiser rally called "Colors in the Catskills" is typically the end of the month (hosted at Hunter Mtn)

So maybe targeting the third weekend of September (20-22) would fit between the two cruiser rallies for less traffic on the roads.

I have not been on the forum for a while and just saw this posting.  I am just a little over an hour from Hancock and will be able to help with some of the logistics if Hancock is selected for 2013 ESTN. That being said, the area tends to be busy throughout the summer as you mentioned. The area is apparently big on Fly-Fishing attracting people from near and far, not to mention other outdoors events. The other downside is that they have limited accommodation with Smith's Colonial Motel being one of the better ones, located about 2.5 miles from town or services (food, gas...). Hunter Mt area is also an option if you're looking to stay with the Catskill region.  You don't want to go to Blackthorne "Resort", my tent is better than their rooms.

I have no definite riding plans for this year.

This sounds like an excellent option.

Someone might want to check on Oneonta, NY for a possible location.  When my family and I were back to that area a couple of years ago, we stayed there at just about the same time this rally is planned.  Plenty of hotel space for fairly cheap, also restaurants and bars within walking or easy riding distance.  Looked to me to be a pretty good location for a meet, but I am not sure about e roads in the area.  The ones we were on between there and Cooperstown were not bad. However, looking at maps it appears that the ones south of it might be pretty good?

You don't need to consume. Take-out for the parking lot festivities.

We took a tour of that place while we were back.  I am not a fan of real hoppy beer so I didn't really find one that I liked, but it was still a cool place to visit, and I would reccomend stopping there to anyone that has an interest in beer brewing.  Not to worry though, we did find a couple of hole in the wall bars that served some good beer and food, so we still had a good time.

Brooks BBQ, on the other hand....... Drool

Watch this page for routes, Easy Ed does a really good job of pre riding the areas.
