A Tuono V4 APRC for less than a non-R Speed Triple?  An RSV4 for the same price as a Gixxer 1000?  Madness, I say!

Of course, the $2k/$3k/$4k discounting is for "leftover" 2012 inventory, I don't think the 2013's will be quite that cheap.   And keep in mind that none of the 2012 or older models have ABS as an option.   Then again, the RSV4 platform has been out for several years now, so economy of scale and production streamlining benefits are starting to kick in.

But really, this is nothing new from Piaggio, the only difference in this year's discounting is that it's advertised directly by Piaggio, whereas in the past it was all behind-the-scenes dealer credits allowing for deep discounts, if the dealer chose to pass it on.  Many didn't, to the benefit of dealers like Moto International and AF1, who did.

I think the ST demographic has come and gone ... Sadly. Given way to the Adventure market. Read: my stomach is too big to lean forward even a little bit      But, IF ... Apriilia built that bike, v4 Futura and if they gave it 350 km range PLUS reserve, I would buy that bike new. In a heartbeat. Ain't gonna happen.

Yeah no kidding! What on Earth makes them think a new Futura wouldn't outsell everything else in it's class!!!!

I saw that price drop a couple of days ago and my jaw dropped in disbelief.  A new RSV4 would look awsome with me riding it!

i tend to agree. a new RSV4 would be so nice in the garage, but alas, i just got my 750 last April. Wife won't let me trade it in on it nor let me buy it outright.  guess i shall have to wait a few years.

What a fair price for that bike!  If you're in the market for a sportbike, I think this price reduction makes is so much harder to consider the Japanese bikes.  If it were my money, I would be looking at the RSV4 and the BMW probably.

Not quite -- the Triumph & Suzuki are both still $200 under the Aprilias.  But still - this is really competitive pricing for Aprilia.

$200 ain't crap when you consider all the gizmos ya get on the RSV4. Man oh man. i soooo wish i could get it. i've wanted one since they came out.

too true, but times aren't what they used to be.  I'll probably find a used RSV4 in a few years and just buy it. would be a hard decision....  Track the RSV4 or the 750...  hmmm, and until i get the RSV, i'll be tracking the 750 anyways....  oh the humanity!!!

Did you make an offer on a leftover model?  I don't know about your dealers, but I'm sure there are dealers around here that will discount last year's model.

Like someone said earlier, this is what always happens, they're just advertising it this time as a new MSRP instead of a discounted price.  I don't know what all the fuss is about.  If you are comparing this to Japanese bikes, then you need to compare apples to apples.  

For me, knocking off a thou or two that you could've negotiated off anyway certainly doesn't make a $15k sportbike seem cheap.

Well, when I bought my Tuono, it wasn't last year's model... That being said, I got a fair deal.

It's still a kick ass ride!
