Some things simply do not translate well . . . .  . . .

They DO seem to be enjoying themselves, which IS the point.

I'd say it translates just fine!

When you think about it, the words "Live Free" on the back of a biker jacket might actually mean more to someone in China...indeed, the whole biker "rebel against society" theme might mean a lot more in China, where they simply do not have the social freedoms we in the west take for granted.

Well said. And the reason I posted a series of photos of HD bikers. If the bike rally was in the US, I'd think nothing of it. But being in China makes newsworthy.

Next, we have to watch out for an HD rally in North Korea.

They enjoy riding. That's good enough for me.  Thumbsup

Koot  . . . . very good point. Conceded!

As you intimate, it just might be a thin edge of a wedge . . .

Transportation authorities have also placed Harleys in the same category as electric bikes, horses and bicycles, so they cannot be ridden on highways and major avenues.

They are very free. Pretty much everyone you see there is a member of the Party, which gives them special privileges, and is mega-rich or their familes are.

the Party in China is seriously corrupt, especially in the provinces. I don't see any peasants or proletarians riding those bikes.
