Cool vests rock. So does ice, air-conditioning, and water. So does ice-cold beer.

But what rocks the most is that I got my picture by the 140 miles of twisties sign and rode 36 and 3 to Weaverville.  Bigok

The intention tomorrow is to get up early, ride toward the coast, then loop back to W-ville in the early afternoon and return to ice, water, and a/c.

Be safe and hydrate.  The only thing keeping me from being totally bummed about not making this is the fact that I got to ride a lot of those roads last September with Bubba...then again, having rode a lot of those roads, I do know what I'm missing.

Damn.  Smile

Live report on a short Saturday:
I set out this morning thinking I might do the loop through Cecilville, but heading north on 3, I changed my mind, deciding I didn't want to fight the mid afternoon heat three days in a row. Besides, I was having so much fun on 3, I thought I'd just hang with it, see where it goes, and then turn around to get back in early afternoon.

Those of you who have been up here before already know what I didn't -- that 3 flattens out and heads through the valley after Callahan. It's pretty, but not what I was looking for, so I was just moseying along, drumming my fingers on the tank, and trying to decide if I would stick to plan B, go back to plan A, or come up with a plan C.

That's when Mr. CHiPs decided we should have a conversation about the definition of "moseying".

Which is also when I remembered that I had left my registration and insurance in my top box which was, sadly, relaxing in my motel room.

Being clocked at 20+ over and with no docs but my drivers license, I figured things weren't going to go well. But I got lucky. Mr. CHiPs must have needed to be somewhere else. After calling in my DL and plates, he let me go with a brief and relatively pleasant warning and a strong recommendation to head back to the motel to get my paperwork before riding anywhere else. And I decided to take his advice, mostly.

I got back here around 12:30, the mercury has crossed 100, and I think I'll just grab lunch and jump in the pool. There's a lot of good riding tomorrow.

So, a short 160 mile day for me. The better news is that the rest of the clan is out there braving the elements somewhere. There's only one other bike at the motel right now. I waved gts_rider and miles by just south of Callahan and they headed toward Cecilville. I think I saw explorer and Andrew headed north on 3 while I was headed back. Viffergyrl and M.Brane headed for the coast. Don't know where everyone else headed.

I'm squeezer reporting on location for STN live news. Now we'll send you back to the studio.

Well, I have been to the deep end of the pool 3x today and will do so again shortly.  Squid OMGOMGOMG

Also did a fine imitation of The Fire Walkers of Pango Pango as I walked across the parking lot to fetch more drinks ...

When I last saw Brane and Viffergirl, the were carving ice blocks in the shape of a chair.

Yep it's hot ... Again!

Yesterday M.Brane and I headed west toward Willow Creek and Titlow Hill Road/Forest Road 1. It cools down overnight so if you are successful at getting up early, it was actually.... pleasant.  Bigok

View from the top of the ridgeline looking west toward the Pacific:

Through the forest, along the ridgeline... (where a *very large* doe ambled across the road in front of me)

...and across the meadow.

We came out on Hwy 36 and stopped at the Mad River Burger Bar - Yum! Sorry no food porn.

By now it was quite warm and we heard the siren call of the air conditioner. As we headed east on 36, yet another doe came out of the trees, clattered across the road, jumped the guardrail and then ran parallel to the road until she swung right into the forest. I blame rc30boy.

It simply got hotter and when we reached Hayfork it was pretty miserable. We slogged it out back to the motel where we collapsed in a melted pool of leather.

Today the tribe took off and we are cleaning up our pool of melted leather. And watching DIY TV and Moto2 GP from Mugello.... What is with Speed anyway?  Headscratch

Tomorrow we begin our return to Southern California....

This is viffergyrl reporting semi-live from WCRM.... back to the studio.

Home. Cut a day out to help out at home and had an awesome ride. Pulled over by OSP and let off with a warning despite a fairly high (90mph) speed.  Madras to Castlegar .... via a new secret road.

Wonderful weekend. I didn't actually mind the heat. Great bikes, better riders and, I love WEAVERVILLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!  Lol
