Recently, I saw a YouTube video of a CHP officer on a BMW police bike and it looked different than what I recall.

I'm accustomed to seeing those incredibly tall, jacked up Beemers with a front end that looks like someone attached a big white riot shield and a pair of nostrils. The bottoms of the  saddlebags are about even with the top of the rear tire, and are canted at about a 30 degree angle. The whole bike looks like it's on stilts and is absolutely hideous. See below.

In this YouTube video, however, the officer is on a more traditionally styled bike, with lower bags and (at least the appearance of) a normal ride height.

So is this a newer style or does it have more to do with how various departments choose to equip their bikes?  Or are there several R-PT models to choose from?

The top one is a 1200 (current model) and the bottom one is an 1150 (previous model).

And the newer bike has no rider on it so no weight on the suspension.  I am sure it will drop with 200lbs on it and the bags will sit like the one below it.
